A Succinct Note From Gerry Cahill

I received the following note letter from Gerry Cahill, CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines this morning regarding Vicki's resignation. Seems pretty cookie cutter to me. Stay tuned!

  1. Not much from the YTBers, I'm sure they are starting to question...or at least I'd hope so...or as you could say they stuck their foot in their mouths. The crows are quiet....it is quit funny actually.

I'm sure we will hear that they don't NEED Carnival...sell billions of travel in 2008, and Scott told them it was all a "misunderstanding". I'm sure the recycled excuses will begin soon. Oh and the stock is up a PENNY! Woot. At least it treated me right and dipped below the $1 mark as I said it would. And they said the Titanic was unsinkable...HAH!

  2. Soooo quiet...

We should all keep in mind that the airlines also kept telling agents that they were 'important'; one going so far as to declare Feb 'Travel Agent Month.' It was that same airline that led the charge to no commissions.

Yes, they love us all right.

  3. It's funny how speculation arises because someone left one company to go work for another.

Maybe RCCL offered a better position for Vicki.

    Maybe RCCL offered more pay.

    Who knows... but Vicki herself?

I guess that unless somebody steps forward and asks Vicki personally why she made the switch, everything stated will just be speculation.

You see it all the time. People quit one company to go work for another one, so as far as I am concerned... until Vicki states exactly why she left CCL for RCCL, there is no need for concern.

  4. Hey Tom, posted by CM 11/02/07..Guess she doesn't love them so much after all eh? Didn't take her long to lose that love...guess another bit of misinformation from you, but nobody is suprised...

    "YTB LOVES Vicki Freed!

Guess she summed it up pretty good . . .

  5. VF loves YTB and all other travel Agents.

I imagine she will be very instrumental in bringing back YTB to RCCL. With stipulations I imagine - but back neverless . . .

    We'll see.

  6. Well, I am not so sure of that. Like Joystar, YTB seems to have leaders with huge egos.

Scott Tomer made some pretty strong "demands" for YTB to ever do business with RCCL again. Something along the lines of full page ads in the trades and some other conditions.

Don't bet the trailer on that!

  7. I agree I don't think we have to worry about anything...Mr Puffy Lip said he would never take back RCCL. I don't expect RCCL to come back to YTB. But if it would just be another long line of Mr. Puffy Lips lies.

But then again the news of Vicki leaving is simply AMAZING!

  8. I have been following this website for a bit now and I have no idea what is going on with Carnival or Royal and like everyone else will need to wait and see what happens. Both sides have valid points.

What I find amusing and strange is that all of the card mill agents who have been in the industry for the most part, less than a year all feel that they are the experts on the industry.

I look at commenters like the one that signs in as something or other CTA. Well, that person has to have many more years experience --provided they are indeed a CTA. While I do not always agree with John, I do have to respect that he has been in the industry for quite some time and his experiences have to count for something. I met him for the first time in 1997, so I can vouch for just over a decade! And surely there are others that are replying here that have more experience than that.

I would never presume to go into banking and profess to be the ultimate insider. I would likely learn from the ones with experience--even if my ultimate goal was to revolutionize the industry.

  13. Wow! what a change of subject!!! I guess Football Fever has struck... LOL!!!

Although it would be great to see the Pats have a perfect season and a Super Bowl win, I too am going for the Giants.

    GO GIANTS!!!

  14. The Giants are the NFL's version of YTB - they just keep overcoming hurdles and showing the world why they are at the top of their game!

NE reminds me of John and all the other old hens. Sticking out their chests and crowing about how the Giants (YTB) don't belong on the same field - but - as with travel - it just goes to show you that:

    1) Anything is possible!

    and

    2) Anyone that tries can make it!

Good luck to the Giants and YTB.

    Tom

  15. Tom--the Pats are the most grounded team in the NFL. You have never heard them crowing about anything.

And if the Pats win, does that indeed prove that the Giants (YTB) are the losers?

  16. Now we're comparing ourselves to football teams? People, YTB and Traditional, don't you think this is a little childish?

No, I'm not YTB and I'm not a travel agent. I'm just someone who took an interest in this blog. I've added a few jabs here and there antagonizing both sides, but I have also learned a lot. Yes, you traditional agents are hurting from MLM agencies like YTB. If you weren't, you wouldn't be putting so much effort into trying to eliminate them.
YTB on the other hand continue to counteract anything that is thrown at them.
