Don't Make Me Slap You

This blog was not intended to be a venue for personal attacks on individuals. Lately the comments seem to have gotten out of hand, and I include myself in some of them as well.

There are very good individuals on both sides of this issue. Let's all try to keep this civil and, if needed, attack the positions and opinions and NOT the individual. I know it is a fine line, but the comments of the past few days have crossed it.

I am still committed to allowing this blog to be be open to completely unmoderated comments.

PS--that nun is kinda cute isn't she?

  1. Personally, I prefer to be slapped by someone in a nurse's outfit, but that's another story.

I've always found on my site that it's the YTBers who get personal in their comments.

Maybe the company attracts a certain type of person?

Actually ainsworth you are incorrect. Mr Doug has called me female, and has called me sweat heart....but I didn't see any comments from you about him saying that. Was that called for? Nope. That was a direct reply to his cooing.

Yes, YTBScam, he did do those things, and when you pointed out to him that you are male, he apologized. By using a gender neutral screen name, you left yourself and your gender open to speculation, and anyone can be excused for the error.

However, you erred in that you have asserted your masculinity, and knew full well that Doug is male. What you did was clearly crossing a line, a crossing that you did intentionally and for the seemingly intended purpose of causing even more discord in the discussions on this blog.

Now, I feel secure in saying that there are many on both sides of the discussion that will agree with me on this, and as such, this is all I have to say on the subject.

  3. I think the nun and the "spank-ee" are the same person...

Did the recruitment blog move here?

  4. Oh another that speaks for the everyone...what a surprise. So assumptions are ok? I guess we can assume that YTB is a real travel agency, or pyramid...or whatever.

  5. Stocks down a cent...creeping creeping towards that dollar.

With all the GREAT news out of YTB HQ, you'd think the stock would being bought up by the millions, oh the BILLIONS!

YTBLA stock closed today at $1.05.
Nothing to brag about, but at least it's holding quite steady. OK, I know, it's flat.

Any guesses out there what it will be running at the end of the 1st quarter this year?

    15-Jan-08 1.05
    14-Jan-08 1.05
    11-Jan-08 1.05
    10-Jan-08 1.07
    09-Jan-08 1.06
    08-Jan-08 1.05
    07-Jan-08 1.05
    04-Jan-08 1.05

  8. Actually, Scorekeeper, Scam is correct. The stock did close down a penny today, at $1.04.

    Last Trade: 1.04

  9. Interesting. Google Finance shows it closed at $1.05. Not sure why. Oh well, no biggie.

  10. My guess will be below a dollar by the end of the first quarter. I expected to be below a dollar by the end of this week, it still may. Been heavy trading this week on YTB which is quite strange considering the previous weeks....we will see.

I just feel bad for those who bought into it at anything above $2 a share, they will never recover their loses.

  11. Once again a prediction by John fails to mature - the stock is still above $1 . . .

You people have nothing better to do than bitch about ytb. I guess ytb's success is starting to affect your sales or bottom line 'eh?

    Interesting . . .

  12. Some interesting news. The "A" in RTA has been changed. I really believe this was a step in the right direction that most of us, TTA's included, will welcome!

  13. Tom--please don't get me started on the failed predictions. Can you say October 15th, IATAN issue, RCCL issue, and pretty much anything else you have "predicted"?

They are changing the "A".....can we all take guesses...

  14. Oh, it's gotta be "Associate".

  15. $1.03 a few minutes ago.

It did indeed close at a $1.04 yesterday, but the first sale today was $1.05.

    Only in Canada . . .

Perhaps in other international destinations as well.

    "A" = Affiliate

In the US they are still travel "a"gents . . .

  17. Damn I'm good..RIGHT ON TARGET!!!
As of 11:26 YTB stock is down to $1....you read it here...didn't even take a full two weeks as I predicted!!

  18. Tom, what I heard last night was, in Canada, RTA's will be called Referring Travel Affiliates and YTB will make that universal for all, including the US.

I cannot blame traditional travel agents for being upset with the word "agent" in RTA. Some RTA's have described themselves as "travel agents". This is not correct, since RTA's only "refer" people to book travel on their personal web sites. I believe TTA's will applaud this step taken by YTB.

  19. Actually - many rta's do more than just "refer" clients to a website. Many book offline as well and direct with the vendors. Thus - they are "travel agents".

Anybody with a partial brain can sell travel and be a travel agent. As I've said for years - it doesn't take rocket science to book a cruise or a tour - even a monkey could do it.

The old hens are just upset because others are playing in what they thought was "their" sandbox. But - I'm sure they'll get over it.

Of course, many RTA's do book for their clients on-line/off-line and I can understand why you refer to them as "travel agents" because they are not "referring" travel bookings at this point. Since I do not book travel for anyone, I've chosen not to label myself as a "travel agent". Got to put that "R" in front of it in order to keep it right for me. But clearly I do see your point.

BTW Tom I did hear from a reliable source that RTA will stand for Referring Travel Affiliate in the US. I would guess it has to do with legal compliance in Canada and possibly the US. I feel it is more of a correct term.

Noun 1. travel agent - someone who sells or arranges trips or tours for customers.

    1. a person who owns, operates, or works for a travel agency.

  21. Affiliate

    8. Commerce.

    a. a business concern owned or controlled in whole or in part by another concern.
    b. a subsidiary.

    ReplyDelete
  22. YTB may incorporate that verbiage in the US just to be consistent - but, I will continue to call them "travel agents" because they actually are.

I even have a business card that says "Travel Agent" that I use in conjunction with my IATAN and CLIA cards to get my perks when traveling. I haven't paid full price since 1996.

I mean for $99 and a couple of travel bookings - anybody can be a travel agent and get an official travel agent id card.

    It's brain surgery 'eh?
