But What About China?

But what is happening with those China packages? Almost a week ago there was a parody of a press release. But it seriously was asking what the heck was happening with those China and Olympic packages. Seems like they are not flying off the shelves as expected! Any updates? I wonder how the YTB/Olympic Store is doing? I have not heard about any run on the Cafe Press stuff, but maybe that is what the big USA Today news might be about!

  1. Olympics?

Dude...Van Halen tix is were it's at! David Lee's kicks aren't quite as high these days, but he and Eddie still know how to Rock & Roll.

    Man what a concert!

    Humma-la-be-ba-la-bop! ;-P

  2. Where did you get your tickets from?

  3. Spring Tours! ;-P

No, actually, I'm an Independent Contractor with a very large entertainment company here in Atlanta.

I sell honeymoon packages to some of their clients, and I also do some DJ work for them when needed. It's a lot of fun and I enjoy it now that I don't have to do it 5 or 6 nights a week.

The owner of the company had tickets given to him and he called the only guy he works with old enough to remember the David Lee Roth days.

    I "Jumped" at the chance.

They'll be back at the Gwinnett Center later in the month. I can get tickets off my own web site, and arrange a flight down for you off my web site if you'd like.

(I know you don't like "hair bands", but both David and Eddie are sporting the short look and they certainly know how to rock the house.)

By the way...The Olympic packages are only about a month old, so I imagine we have several of our new Brochures out to clients like I do. Just came out about two weeks ago.

It even has my name and phone number on it!

Since you've expressed such an interest, I'll send you one of mine. ;-P

  4. Doug,

VH? Lol! I saw Roth about 5 years ago...and you sure are in for a "treat"! Thats sarcastic. As much as I loved VH in the good ole days, father time has caught up with them. If you got the tickets for free, good...use them. Thats the reason why I saw Roth. Anyone that would fly in for a VH concert is just plain nuts.

  5. ok, I'm with Doug on this one!! VH is my fave of ALL time!! The original VH. So they are definitely doing their tour it seems. I got disappointed when they announced it, then Eddie nixed (sp?) the idea. Wish they still had Michael in their too but I hear that Wolfie is doing just fine :-)

  6. Scam;

I saw him Sunday night and was shocked at how good he looked. He's in better shape than he was back in 1984 when I partied with him in my Radio days.

Thay also played for 2 1/2 hours.

Besides, I need to entice John with something...I have a secret stash of Kool-aid with his name on it. ;-P

  7. So is VH the latest member of YTB now?

  8. Does anyone else find it interesting that an mlm company is selling packages to a country that has a very strict ban on mlms??

In a stunning upset against MLM schemes and promoters, the government of China has passed a law that outlaws the payments of commissions on purchases made by "downline" recruits in the scheme. News reports from China indicate that legitimate direct selling, based on retail selling to the public, not endless chain recruiting, has been approved in the country. The new law was urgently awaited by the MLM companies, which had been banned in China since 1999, following riots and the revelation of pyramid schemes masquerading as "direct selling" companies.

  9. That cannot be true TT! Tom said China was going to be YTB's new frontier. Are you saying that Tom might be wrong? Gasp!

  10. Yes! I just read an article about a woman who created a line of cosmetics and was selling them in China using the same business model as Avon, and they shut her down.
But, I'll bet Tom has an "in" with someone in China that will bend the rules for him.

  11. I cannot believe that Tom was wrong.

  12. I wouldn't want to screw with the Chinese. They will lock you in jail and throw away the key.

  13. YTB is different from Avon in that China doesn't need more make-up, but they sure can profit from the influx of tourists! I bet you didn't know that although we sell a lot of goods made in China... China sels a lot of goods over there that are made in USA! You should know this. After all, you are Travel Agents.

  14. I know that Anon. The Chinese need websites more than makeup?
    Ha. Good one.

  15. Excuse me, but one of the reasons so many people are concerned about having the Olympics in China is Human Rights abuses - one of these is that the Chinese Government keeps a very heavy hand on the internet - they control what can be seen in China. There is serious regulation of internet services/sales/websites over there - it's not going to be easy, and perhaps impossible for an on-line MLM over there.

and FYI - all over the WORLD, cosmetics sales are actually bigger than travel sales.

  16. Please don't let YTB know any of that.
