Did The MLM Industry Toss YTB Under The Bus?

Wow, Randy Gage, the MLM Guru certainly tossed YTB under the bus in his January 2009 publication The MLM Revolution: A Manifesto by Randy Gage.

In the document, on his page 12, he states,
A perfect example here is a travel deal that's all the rage right now. They are facing serious legal challenges, and getting a great deal of negative publicity. They're playing the aggrieved party and acting like they are being unfairly prosecuted. But if you look at the actual annual report they publish, you can see that most of their sales--and most of the commissions paid out to their distributors--come from selling their marketing websites to the distributors themselves, not actually selling travel. This "mining the miners" rap is one of the biggest challenges in perception we legitimate network marketers face right now.
Wow, I can't believe such a heavy hitter in the MLM industry would do that. Unless....

  1. You still don't understand this INTERNET COPYRIGHT LAW stuff, do you?
Did you even READ the document? If you did and, still cut and pasted (like you did) then you are in VIOLATION.
    This is serious John.
After reading the document again and, If you still can't comprehend it, I can refer you to some excellent legal council.
Have you thought about joining PREPAID LEGAL?

The image you are presenting to the world is hurting the TTA's. It's making us look like a bunch of ignorant, law-breaking, tattletales.
Your obsession and vengeance against YTB is not helpful to the TTA's as a whole.

  2. I understand the law pretty well, but thanks for your concern.

If YOU read the document, you woudl see that it can be distributed freely as long as it is in it's entirety. Seems to me like I put out the source. A link to the document in it's ENTIRETY, and you know what, the author is ok with it.

But I am curious, why do you feel by exposing the largest MLM travel scam is hurting the TTAs? Ignorant? Not at all. Law breaking? Nope. Tattletale? Well maybe, but if left to their own devices, what would be the result? And how is one person's opinion (although you call it an obsession) not helpful to the TTAs. My experience indicates otherwise.

But I tell you what, since you have such a strong opinion, why not write it down, and send it to me and I will use it as a guest post. Then you can correct the image that I am presenting to "the world". You can contact me using the link in the upper right section of the blog.

  3. Hehehehe, "travel agent" and their MLM law degree again. Thanks for my laugh for the day. Again, Google is your friend, and I would suggest that you use it to look up "Internet Copyright Law". You'll find that John followed not only the letter and spirit of the law, but the letter and the spirit of Mr. Gage's copyright request of "You may copy or distribute this document freely, as long as it is done in its entirety." by providing a link to the document, where you can read it in it's entirety.

As for as the image being presented to the rest of the world with this blog, it is presenting nothing more than a group of professionals who are sick and tired of having their profession denegraded by a bunch of people who have neither the knowledge to perform the job correctly nor the desire to learn to perform the job correctly. If you feel that this blog makes YOU look ignorant, well then, that's your problem, and perhaps you're seeing your own failings. My friends, family and clients know of my involvement here, and all applaud me for my efforts.

As John suggested, if you feel so strongly against what we're about here, why don't you write an opposing view article for the blog? Or, why not start your own blog to give voice to your stance?

  4. Travel Agent, it is YOU who doesn't understand copyright law. Try learning about the "fair use" provisions. (And this is completely aside from John's 'entirety' position.)

If you are shooting your mouth off on cut and dried law such as this, no wonder nothing else you say can be trusted.

And with the above post, this "professional travel agent" has given away her true identity. Ladies and gentlemen, please say hello to the one and only Iris55 of Scam.com fame! Writing styles are like fingerprints. As much as one might try to mask them, they are unique to each and every individual, and can never truly be hidden. And then there are those, such as Iris, that are just too transparent and make it too easy. Love ya, hon! NOT.

  7. The only people pretending to be travel agents, are those who paid $500 and think they've automatically deserved that title. The rest of us have been working in this industry a long time, with quite a bit of knowledge, training and skill under our belts. Sorry if you don't approve of whats said here, again..you are not forced to come here or read any of it. If you truly were a travel agent, you would understand our stance on the issues at hand.

  8. I don't know Ainsworth - the ire is smacking of a certain someone named Drew from the TW boards from last year.

  9. I see your point, Little Bird, but if you go to Scam.com and read the rantings of Iris, you will see the same use of capitalization and exclamation marks, the same sentence structure, syntax, and usage of grammar. Besides, Drew always felt the need to add in remarks about what a great TA he is, and how many cruises he sells. Not seeing that here.
