The Facts Half-Truths About YTB--Part 5

Today, let's take a look at the fifth tab on the new YTB site called www.TheFactsAboutYTB.com :

In The News:
This by far is the most amusing and deceptive page of the site. Most of this has been rehashed, but here we go again.

  • Inc. Magazine--it was a paid advertisement
  • Funshine East Travel Trade Show--39 Vendors for a sales force of 138,000 is ridiculous. Apparently most vendors do not see value in paying to attend. It needs to be noted that of the 39 vendors, a lot were YTB related companies--YTB Cars, YTB Flowers, the YTB Store, etc.
  • Saturday Evening Post--YTB paid to have Coach Tomer on the cover.
  • Sorensen named "influential". This is true, but Jack the Ripper was also influential. Sorensen was named influential not for any good brought to the travel table, but for infusing the industry with 100,000 untrained people looking for free trips and upgrades calling themselves travel agents.
  • #26 in Travel Weekly. Again, true. But the numbers are self reported and not verified by the publication other than to have an executive say they are right. And again the actual article states that YTB RTAs only produced $211M and not $414M.
So, it seems that the good news for YTB must be purchased. As for the bad news, no one needs to look too far. Just do a Google search.

As a matter of fact, here are a bunch of not so good news stories that YTB neglected to include in the "In The News" section:

  1. You haters are funny.

  2. We don't have to 'hate'. YTB does everything possible to make itself look pompous and arrogant all by themselves. It's FUN to point it out.

How come the loss of IATA isn't news? That's probably the one most important event concerning YTBs validity as a industry member.
But wait - it's recruiting not travel sales that ytbthetruth is pushing isn't it?

  3. And you don't have to be smart or honest to post blogs here. Your only qualifications must be A> you have access to a computer and B> Be a good contortionist because that is your goal - to distort the truth to make it look exactly like ou wnt it ot look in hopes of it altering a simpleminded persons decision concerning YTB...Funny thing is - I did a meeting last night and had 6 people join immediatly after I showed them this blog and they were so shicked and surprised but then they realized that Microsoft had been through so much and look at how BIG they are- yup - most likely you use a microsoft product while looking at this blog....

You guys are hilarious. Especially you John-
Why are you not with msnbc any longer? Why don't you advise all the big travel authorities any longer? Why have you LOST your credibility?
I think you know exactly why...But I am sure you will give us a "well thought out 'excuse'"...We are waiting.

  4. Anonymous, exactly what part of today's topic is "contorted"? It's all true, especially the things about the Inc. magazine advertisement and the Saturday Evening Post cover.

I love, also, how you (the collective) continue to bring up Microsoft. Do you realize that Microsoft LOST in all of those anti-trust lawsuits, and had to pay out millions upon millions of dollars in fines? If ytb ever has to pay out anything close to what Microsoft had to pay out, they would be totally and completly bankrupt.

  5. So now this blog is making people throw $500 to you for their own websites? Give me a break.

I made a decision to stop supplying content to MSNBC last March. My decision entirely--and I even announced it. I have never advised "big travel authorities" so not sure what you are talking about. My credibility is in tact. How is yours? What about the woman selling sex toys and travel? How's her credibility? What about Piccolo? Seligman? Buggs? Paraldi? How is their credibility doing these days?

And how is the Coach's credibility? I mean after all the "copyrighted" compensation plan that could "never" be changed has been changed several times. Seems now the Reps are not earning travel overrides as easily. Seems the Directors are no longer earning the residuals they were promised to "infinity".

As for Microsoft....right now there is nothing Microsoft up and running other than Windows XP Pro but I do own Office. What OS do you run? Windows XP-Amateur?

  6. It's also funny how John likes to bring up law suits but doesn't like to talk about his suits and how he is ripping creditors off.

  7. So Anon, do you use the lawsuits against YTB as a selling tool? That's very ethical of you. How do your potential recruits like that YTB has no IATA and never will? Unimportant as industry respect is unnecessary? Well, they don't really now anything about the industry anyway so whatever you say is unimportant as long as you get those downline dollars huh? Have you told them that out of the 5 (not that I believe you) you signed up that likely ALL will lose money? Hmm, bet not. Did you show them one of those big card board checks?
You are so full of it your steaming! Anonymous people are not to be believed even a little bit.

    ReplyDelete
  8. It's also funny how anonymous people like to allude to things about people, but never profer any evidence.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Would you like to see the evidence of John's lawsuits? Just go to the Maryland court records and look them up for yourself! Pay your bills John! Right out there in the open! And if anonymous people are not to be believed then Ainworth is not to be believed. He posts anonymously all the time but he won't admit it.

  10. "Would you like to see the evidence of John's lawsuits? Just go to the Maryland court records and look them up for yourself!"

And, while you are at it look up St. Doug Bauknight's court records and the rest of you in YTB who are all over the internet. It's far worse than anything you have on John. All public record.

  11. Still diverting from the topics at hand I see. All of the above has been shown time and time again, yet they all cry foul when its posted. Sorry you don't approve of what it is that your company does, cry to them..not us.

LOL and as for people flocking to join away after reading this blog, highly doubtful. Why is it the Anon ones always tell the biggest tales?

    ReplyDelete
  12. To the big YTB recruiter..keeping it real. Are you saying at your meeting of X-amount of people on your projector or what have you, you pulled up Johns blog for prospects to see?? And then they all hyuk=hyuked about it and said 'YTB is simply the best! Where do I get ripped off - er -sign up? THAT IS ONE OF THE STUPIDEST LIES I EVER HEARD. Like 6 people really had time to read the TRUTH of YTB and said oh well.

Secondly, I don't know how ANY of you YTBERs can sleep at night recruiting people knowing that you have lawsuits going? REGARDLESS if you prevail or not I WOULD NOT TAKE ANYONE'S MONEY until the coast is clear. I couldn't in good conscience do that but you guys will do and say anything for a quick buck...I guess that's all the stuff Coach and folks teach you guys huh? That's why you guys are ignoring the gazillion changes in yor company over the last few days.

You guys are doing a great job becoming the Tomer's mini-mes. I don't feel sorry for any of you if YTB goes down

    ReplyDelete
  13. AND STOP USING MICROSOFT!! YTB isn't any where NEAR Microsoft is financially! Geez.

Your 'leaders' will tell you anything to make YTB look good.

Microsoft LOST and they had to pay out the wazoo. If YOU lose LIKE MICROSOFT you will be saying buh-bye my YTB....' so go ahead keep comparing yourselves to Microsoft on that front. lol

  14. I miss Firemedic. After he was exposed for the jerk he is, he suddenly vanished. Reminds me of Larry aka A Great Mix. Both gone but not forgotten.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Why miss FM when we now have the mentally bankrupt, John stalking, repetitive, lieing, sack of crap, nutball YesUR from the Scam forum posting on here all day and night now. LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think it is time to turn off anonymous posting again.

    ReplyDelete
  17. John has to have the Anonymous posting to keep his numbers up since he now relies on this site as one of his main sources of income. If he turns off the anonymous he won't have as many people posting. His numbers are already way down. Boys gotta eat!

    ReplyDelete
  18. LOL how is a free blog income for John? Seriously deluded you people are. Clueless and Deluded.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Good guess Anonymous. Now go back and see if you can figure out the REAL reason "anonymous" postings were re-enabled.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Actually, I post as "Anonymous" because some of the YTBers here previously were real whackos and started stalking people and calling them in the middle of the night. I do nto care to give any of you any real insight to who I am. Most of the real Travel Agents here have a good idea of who I am and I am not in any way afraid of them...

A month or so back, I told John that this was why I was no longer posting and I think some others did as well... then Anonymous was re-enabled and here I am.

  21. I will say this to both sides of the discussion. If there is any stalking (and I would hope that there is not) please report it to the police.

To be honest, if anyone was to be stalked, I would think I might rank up there, and aside from the "anonymous" calls from Earl, a few emails, and a heated discussion on the phone with another RTA, I cannot say that I have been stalked.

But if there is, I encourage anyone and everyone to report it to the local police department.

  22. I concur. Some of these whacko YTBers have real emotional issues. They will attack you non stop and never defend YTB, or even debate and comment on what you have posted, but just attack you, stalk you and harass you. The message becomes blurred in their constant belittling of others when you post the facts and the truth. You get much farther on here by posting anon actually. I think this is the case for a lot of the anon non-ytbers who read this blog and have either stopped posting, would like to start posting or used to post.

Now that's a bunch of the pot calling the kettle black.

  24. To the last Anon poster (FM?): Uhhh it's not just on John's blog, it's everywhere there is a discussion about YTB and they don't like what they hear. You YTBers do the exact same thing instead listening to the message and researching.

  25. "You YTBers do the exact same thing instead listening to the message and researching."

Just to clarify, I meant that it's not just the few YTBers on here...it's ANY YTBer that doesn't like to hear the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sorry John, but what Earl did is kind of close to "stalking" and rather than endure that kind of crap, I prefer to remain anonymous.

  27. I know an agent who posted a opinion on YTB in TW and received threatening phone calls and emails. YTB preys on people with a lower socio economic status and those who have real "issues." They promise them they will make millions and TTA are the enemy when in fact you are being manipulated to line Coach's pockets so he can buy more toys, props and Saturday Evening Post covers.....

    ReplyDelete
  28. A lot of YTBer's mentatlities really amaze me. They actually seem to believe the crap coming from the office.

The idea that the California Lawsuit was some sort of conspiracy by the TTAs?

That YTB didn't need RCCL or IATAN anyway?

That YTB is going to be the #1 travel company

That YTB is going to make 1,000 people Millionares - Here is a hint- If YTB only paid out 22 million or so in comissions during the first nine months - how are they going to average making 100 people becoming a millionare each year

For some reason, the koolaid crew (YTBers) won't even admit that they have an image problem. Its not that they are pissing everyone in the industry off, its that they are so good everyone else is just jealous of them...

Its like reading about the idoits that send money to Nigeria because some rich general died and they will send you millions of dollars if you just help them by sending some money via western union to nigeria to cover some fees. Everyone gets those stupid emails, and I am sure you are asking yourself why do they send so many out? Surely no one is stupid enough in this day to send cash to via western union to Nigeria based on some stupid email?

Then I see YTB - Surely no one believes the crap that they spew.... but thats just it people actually believe YTB will soon be larger than expedia and orbitz as soon as they get through the global conspiracy from the TTAst and the CA attorney general .
