YTB Executives Being Sued In FEDERAL Court In Illinois

Developing story....but from the Alton Telegraph:

The suit, filed Friday in U.S. District Court for Southern Illinois, names two specific plaintiffs, Faye Morris of St. Louis and Kwame Thompson of Atlanta, Ga., but seeks class action status on behalf of potentially more than 1,000 people who were members of the YTB travel network, either as independent marketing representatives or referring travel agents.

  1. Guess this is no big deal eh Mix, eh Douggie? This is no small can of peanuts. Federal court. I hope they start throwing these crooks in jail. It's about time the pyramid is taken down. The YTB execs. They are the root cause of this.

  2. Well John, you called that one didn't you? I wonder who will be next?

  4. You do realize that this is a CIVIL case brought on by travel agents.

So, yes it is FEDERAL court, but all it takes is a few minutes and a check for 350 bucks to FILE a suit in federal court.

  5. Josh,

So this is GREAT news once again?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Josh, of course it is a CIVIL case, citizens cannot file criminal cases.

It was not brought on by Travel Agents, it was brought on by people that feel they were scammed by the Tomers and YTB. These are former YTB people suing YTB and seeking Class Action that will open it up to many many more both in YTB and that have left.

Sure it costs $300 but they are represented and that takes some money as well. SO I have to imagine this has some merit as well.

I do think it is a preemptive strike. If the action is filed and the AG wins, I believe that this suit will be awarded some redress. I think that by getting in the game you are protecting your interests.

  7. And the federal courts do not take nuisance suits too lightly and it appears that it was heard by a magistrate who agreed and referred it to the federal court.

  8. John,
I stated that they were travel agents because that is what the article you posted said....

SCAM...I never said it is GREAT NEWS....it is simply the same news as last week. I would be willing to bet that the names in the suit are the same names in the BBB file, etc.

Does that make it good news for YTB? Of course not....but, I am confident that YTB will be cleared as a company in all of these cases.

  9. Hey Joshie, maybe you should pony up your $300 and file too. Bet you will be making way more than you are making now and the Mrs. will have more money for spa days. Maybe even have some left over for the college fund for the rug rats...

  10. See you are wrong Josh. Last week it was a investigation. And California was going after YTB in court. NOW they are filing in Illinois also. So it isn't the same news as last week.

  11. Ahh yes it does says "by travel agents", but again, this is the term your ilk like to toss around. It should read "referring travel agents", or actually former RTAS.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Guess those RTA's missed the training on how to effectively recruit...

  13. So when and where are the courses for a "legal defense" at? And how much will they charge?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Guess it's all their fault that they couldn't make it with YTB!

  15. Do you think Coach uses prepaid legal??

  16. I'm going to go out on a limb here. This is how I see this whole thing coming working out...

Coach and the cronies will close shop. They will claim that is was because of all the lawsuits and the TTAs (specifically that TTA Coach John, who has all the AG in his pocket). Coach and the cronies will walk away with all the money and goods, and the rest will be left out in the dark.

  17. American Stock Exchange Application

On August 8, 2008, the Company's application for listing on the American Stock Exchange, LLC (the "Exchange") was withdrawn. The Company intends to continue its dialogue with the Exchange and will re-apply when the Company is in a position to do so.

    AHAHAHHAHAHA

  18. The jet is fueled up, Scott, Kim, and Coach are packed. All of the money is withdrawn from the banks. The plane is on it's way to Rio. Mixed Up will say that it's just a vacation for them, Doug will say it's a good thing for YTB, and everyone else in the company will say it's a misunderstanding. They'll be back and stronger than ever, becoming the largest seller of travel in the world.

  19. On vacation from McDonalds, ytbscam?

You better check your pants . . . you are SO excited these days!

Yes, the "victims" come out of the woodwork.

    I'm sure more to come.

Someone gets a hot drink spilled on them and sues in civil court.

And then conveniently more people get a drink spilled on them.

The Atlanta RTAs who were SO mistreated (let me pause to dry my eyes) are probably now members of Traverus or World Ventures and look at a great opportunity to pile on.

    And they will predictably lose.

    Can we say "frivolous"?

  20. Hey Martha -

I was thinking about you on Saturday AM at the YTB Convention.

The session was dedicated to and presented by the Women of YTB.

Strong women, sharp women, focused women.

    Very impressive.

They I thought of the opposite and I pictured you.

I would love for you, Kate and TL to set in a conference with 3 of these women.

They would absolutely clean your clocks.

I would pay big money for the price of admission.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Which 3 women were those Mixed Up? I hope you don't mean Gail, Regina and Denyse!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mix,

I would gladly take that on. You still know nothing about me, or Kate, or Martha for that matter. How many years have these supposed women been in TRAVEL? What were the topics?

What was the supposed session about? How to scam oh excuse me, recruit more suckers into YTB. I haven't seen any "travel" classes being spouted off on any blog as of yet. All about recruiting.

So as for you thinking any of these Women of YTB could clean my clock...I laugh. How old are you.? I'm betting majority couldn't sell their way out of a paper bag if it was about travel and not recruiting.

I'm strong enough to still be in this ever changing industry after 18 years, I'm sharp enough to cut through your annoying blather day after day, and I'm quite focused on ridding the industry of people who would rather sit on their asses praying for the next $10 check while scamming others by lying about how much they make and how much they can deduct from the IRS, so they join their downline.

    ReplyDelete
  23. No doubt in my mind, TL.

Your words give a great window into who you are.

And Martha can be read like a book.

You would absolutely shrink in their presense.

    Focus, positive, driven, successful, sincere.

Not whining little woman who show their ignorance on a daily basis.

  24. Mixx,
I think your comments are much more a reflection of you than they are of anyone else on this board.

    We're not being sued.
Our ethics are not being called into question.
We're not being investigated by any state authority.
And we're not at all concerned with anyone in YTB "cleaning our clocks"
Maybe your $49.95 per month would be better spent on some therapy.

YTB and travel.. well, it used to be a mix.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Focused, positive, driven (in a bentley I hope), successful and sincerely ignorant by association with YTB. It's sad how good people can go bad with so little effort. As long as YOU admire them their life must be complete. If you won't name names than I can do nothing but conclude you are stretching the truth once again. Sorry Mixed. Not that i really care.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ignorance? What exactly am I ignorant of Mix? You are obviously quite ignorant of the travel industry on a whole. Am I ignorant of MLM's...probably yes. Never said I wasn't. Have never been in one, never will be. I don't believe in joining a company that proves time and time again its nothing more then a pyramid in hiding.

As for your comments about me on this forum, if you honestly think I care about what you think or what you say, your sadly mistaken. See in my eyes, your a little man, who gets off on belitting the women on this forum. Why is that? Because we're outspoken on the industry we do not want to see destroyed. That means we are focused, positive, driven, sincere, and successful in our own right. Who the hell are you to tell us we are otherwise. NOBODY!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Lisa, you're wrong! Mixed Up knows me quite well. Don't forget that we went on vacation together and he kept trying to get in my panties all the while coaxing me to join YTB. The cheap prick wouldn't even buy me a burger but expected me to put out. Just like I told Mixed, I don't like to go fishing on vacation, I don't like staying in seedy motels, and I don't put out to men with no job, no life, no brains, no class, and no looks - unless it's a sailor or Marine.

Oh Mixed - Time for you to put on the paper hat and practice your fry skills again. Once you master the art of Mikey D's, you might be able to move up to KFC. At least it would save them money on buying grease. They could just scrape your body.

  28. It is going to be a joyful day when the YTB wins in court in California.

Your anticipation of the demise of YTB is reaching Y2K proportions.

And the outcome will be similar.

    No big deal.

And it will be a delite to see the overly- inflated egos of the TTAs pop and burst.

    Looking forward to it!

  29. Mixed Up said...."Not (sp) whining little woman who show their ignorance on a daily basis."

Sort of like you, Mixed? I notice you're number 6 on the list of posters. I don't think you see my name on that list because I have a job. Sorry that you don't. Whiner!

Ironic that this position is used when the people of YTB say the same thing. "We are focused, positive, driven, and successful in our own right. Who the hell are you to tell us otherwise." What is really ironic is the position of being "positive" by the anti-YTB crowd when there is nothing positive here.

  31. Time will tell.
Historic market shifts have been accompanied by explosive growth and cat fights.
So far YTB has beaten the doom sceptics.
You guys keep bashing each other while those of us that UNDERSTAND market shift and "EMBRASE" it cash in............
    TIME WILL TELL.....

  32. I hope you all know YTB is going to win they have a bill of rights that says it is all legal and the government wont do anything about it. so dont get your hopes up about them getting shut down its just not gunna happen so just shut up and deal with it. quit being little bitches about this.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Trevor---were you on Saturday Night Live last night? I mean THAT comment is funny.

The Bill of Rights is a marketing piece used to recruit (likely it was used on you). There is no "approval" or assumption of legality.

I bet in your recruitment meeting, it was mentioned that it was approved by "every" attorney general and on "file" in every state. Well if so, why do you think the Attorney General of California filed suit against YTB. Why do you think the Illinois Attorney General is investigating YTB.

Why didn't Coach just tell them that they have a Bill of Rights?
