Attendance Records?

While the spin machine is claiming 18,000 for training and 23,000 for the opening ceremonies, I am hearing a completely different story from a journalist that was there.
I went to the opening session of the convention yesterday. There were a lot of people there, but not as many as I think they'd hoped.
They said 18,000, and with no independent way to confirm that, that's what I put in my story about it. It's possible that they had 18,000, but they came nowhere close to filling that room (basically half the Edward Jones Dome). It might have been 15K with some optimistic estimating going on.
Now is we take the generous 15,000 (and mind you this is coming from a journalist in St. Louis that knows what a full dome looks like) you need to wonder how many are actually affiliated with YTB and have singed an agreement? They were encouraged to bring friends, family, and guests. In a comment I thought maybe 7500, and that seems to be about right if everyone brought a spouse.

Well, it is becoming pretty clear that there are false claims on all fronts with YTB.

  1. I understand they required their employees from Wood River to go to boost the numbers. I wonder how many were required to take families, kids, cousins etc.

Wouldn't put it past them to grab the homeless or street people to make it look good....

  2. You guys are an absolute hoot!

    No one said 23,000.

    I would say 16,000-18,000.

Just like the ridiculous information about Lady Liberty costing $8 Million.

    Total nonsense.

    It was a great convention.

Yes, employees were there . . . TO WORK!!

    There were some guests there.

We had a couple of guest there, and, guess what . . .

    They are both RTAs now.

    Smart people.

The best time to gauge attendance was at the opening session. After the opening session, the YTB Store was open and people were in and out of the general sessions.

    By the way . . .

Here's an example of "all the money YTB is making on their literature and materials":

    $50 gets you . . .

    30 New DVDs
    15 Magazines
    15 8 Page Flyers

Really ripping the Reps off with that one!

    A great convention.

The travel industry/States of CA/IL did their best to derail our convention.

Sorry, folks . . . it did not happen.

They just awakened a sleeping giant.

Your "journalist" needs to take a remedial math course.

The Edward Jones Dome holds 67,000.

Had we filled "basically half of the Edward Jones Dome", we would have had 33,500.

Including at least 1500 on the floor, 18,000 total was not at all out of the question.

    Journalistic spin at its best.

  4. Hey it was said 20,000 plus in Doug's blog and we all know that is the ultimate source. He later went on to say 18,000 just for training and more to come for the opening ceremonies. So what was it? I suspect we will never know, nor does it really matter.

Well, on the $6M or $8M....that was reported on several news stations. You know all the ones you promoted all around, so I guess they were lying. Or maybe there was too many questions and the agreement between the companies was revised. After all when you run both of them it is easy to do. It must have been the plan B.

As to my journalists comments..I read it as you had half the dome (and if 67K is right that would put your capacity at 33,500. And about half of that is a little over 15,000. Not gonna try to interpret what he meant, but he said the actual numbers were no where near what they released.

But now that it is over, you need to concentrate on how to spin this lawsuit as you go on about your merry recruiting way.

You talk about spin--look at your own--I saw a notice from a director from Team L.E.A.D saying that YTB had the the TTAs and the AG right where they wanted. Uhm...ok.

Check back in a week and let me know how many new RTAs you signed up.

  6. Look the "One Who Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" convention let out and Mix and I'm sure Doogie will soon follow. Can't wait to see the spin ole Doogie will put on the great news that came out while he was there. Hey Doogie, I see you got your picture with Ms. Candi Pants....have a hard time finding Mr. PHD???

  7. Hey Mix,

Awakened the sleeping giant? What is up with that statement? Was YTB asleep?

I am not sure how smart your friends are. After all, they just bought into a business that is in the middle of some major legal problems. And I am not sure what kind of friend you are. You just sold them into a business that is going to be very hard to recruit because of the legal issues, AND it might be illegal. What does that make you?

$50 to buy promotional materials for a company that is in major trouble with attorney generals in several states is not a bargin! Remember this when you are throwing them away in the trash can!

I know that they got you guys all pumped up with the big convention. It will take a couple of weeks before the ether wears off. And then, you will wake up to find what it truly means to be associated with an mlm that is under the microscope with attorney generals.

But let's talk about more important issues: What play did Coach call? What is the big news to come out of this convention? What about the franchises? What about YTB's quest to rule the world? Tell us all about the big green styrofoam goddess. Tell us how the national press covered the event. Tell us about the "vision". Tell us about the master plan.

  8. The only sleeping giant that is waking up is all the attorney generals, and other countries (Bermuda) and maybe, if you make enough noise, you can wake up the FTC.

  9. So I questioned the number of people at the convention...this is the intelligent reply I got from a YTBer. LOL

    Tobad4u,

Where do you buy your crack you fucking idiot? I would seriously love to beat the fucking shit out of you and slam your head on the concrete until you tiny brains were all over the sidewalk. But, you are not worth the jail time!"

  10. Well that was a ray of sunshine now wasn't it!

  11. If that's the kind of reply you get when you question the number of people at the convention, I'd hate to see the reply when I actually posted how YTB is all finished up.

Just another nut at YTB. Seems they are dime a dozen.

  12. Gee um, I wonder what God,er, Coach would think of that reply. Can I get you a side of hostility with that??

  14. Right, ytbscam.

    Nice creation of an email.

    Real authenticity there, BigMacMaker.

    Just for everyone to know:

You are not in the least bit guilty in a lawsuit until the courts decide.

Last time I looked, you are innocent until proven guilty.

OH, how the wonderful TTAs want this to happen!

Just the thought of it is orgasmic to them.

And how remorseful they will be when YTB wins in court.

    It will happen.

    Count on it.

And there will be a "damnit" moment all across the TTA world.

  17. As to Mix's remark the employees of Wood River were paid sure they were minimum wage AND forced to work like dogs. No reimbursement for gas, for food, NADA.

If they didn't go they were told they would be terminated.

  18. Oooo that sounds like the type of company I would love to work for. Very Christian of them. Is the department of labor aware of that, I hope one of them reported it.

  19. YTB may not have been proven to be illegal - yet - but is it ethical to continue to promote a business opportunity to your friends and family that may be?

    Tobad4u,

Get a life, LOSER. It's obvious you don't know much about YTB and you are only talking after other LOSERS. For your information, we have founders that have generous hearts and display much compassion. You must be one of those people who didn't have the money to sign up. That's fine, we'll sign you up whenever you can sell enough aluminum cans or recycled goods to pay your startup fee.

    GOD BLESS YOU

  21. YTB Scam,

The post you put on here from Patricia E. is a phony. She is not affiliated with YTB. I emailed her about her response and she said

  26. Funny thing about the Reps and RTAs they are not that original.

Here is the URL of the booking site:
    http://www.ytbtravel.com/klanier

Here is the URL of the recruiting site:
    http://www.ytb.com/klanier

From the recruiting site, the name is
    Kathleen Lanier

    With an email address of
    klanier_39@yahoo.com

Which seems to correspond with the "false and misleading" name she entered i the STL website.
