Well The Locals Love Like REALLY Don't Like YTB Either

This article is from a local paper called The Telegraph in Alton, Illinois. The article essentially rehashes the BBB complaints that are mounting against YTB.  But that is not the real story here.

What I found to be very interesting was the tone of the comments from the locals. Apparently, YTB is as well liked in their hometown as they are elsewhere.

Lloyd Tomer has stole money off of hard working metro east residents for years. 1st, Primerica, then something else, now this, all in the name of god. He's unbelievable. It's about time this piece of trash was held accountable by SOMEBODY! How do you sleep at night Lloyd, Scott and KIM? I'ts even more unbelievable the number of people who fall for it. It's sad. Better put those building complex plans on hold, Lloyd. Judgement day might be coming. ALthough I'm sure you'll hop in your Lexus and move on to other innocent people in other states.

I worked for YTB a couple years ago in Edwardsville.
I worked there for a couple weeks but after being assigned to "collections" for one day, I had to quit.
I went home that day, and wrote my letter of resignation. I told them I did not want to be associated with a company and would rather be broke than paid by them.
SAD SAD STORY

I went to a YTB meeting and the 1st thing out of the man's mouth was "this is a get rich quick company" There is no such thing is get rich quick. I hope they shut YTB DOWN......We don't need a travel company in Wood River. We need something for the children...

OK all you Pro YTB freaks, get a CLUE. I was on the "inside" of that company for a long long time. I left because. I got sick of all the lies and deceit from the upper "Team Members". Those who you who think you know the company so well, look at all the Tomers and Sorensens on the payroll. The company reeks of nepotism. The company has lost their IATAN status. If you are a real "Travel Pro" you will know what that means. To those who don't, it means that YTB is not a real travel agency. They lost it because of their deceitful ways. Also, I worked several conventions where it was "required" that we be there and work long hours. We were never given gas money. Oh and I was there when those firings happened, and it did happen like it was told. That company deserved to be shut down and soon!!!

Yes Amac it's a great company until you get laid off/fired like so many others these past few months. They have fired people on the spot w/ no reasons given. You wont even see it coming. Unless you are high on the totem poll I'd watch my back if I were you. I would almost put money on the fact that as soon as they find out who these employees are posting on this site they get terminated too. But like the chick who got tanked and quit this weekend said you can get a min wage job anywhere lol.
I thought it was insightful and you can read it here--please read the comments and let's discuss here!

  1. My favorite comment:

"There is a church in Alton who supports YTB, and is supported by YTB. Coach Tomer helped pay off it's mortgage. In fact, the last time I visited this church, there was no sermon, just a YTB rah-rah session. The membership of the church is divided because everyone wants a piece of the pie. It is a SAD day when Christ and Christian living is replaced with greed. And any church that tells you that God wants you to get rich to give more to Him is blasphemous. You aren't giving your money to God, you're giving it to a building and proud people who call themselves a "ministry team". Wake up... If your minister is buff, tan, and wearing Tommy Bahama shirts it's time to pull out your bible and start from the beginning..."

  2. You know you can find many many more positive comments if you look for them too. I talked to an employee at the convention and she loved working for the company. She said that they took great care of the employees because "they cared". Now I know the anti-YTB crowd will attack that statement because it doesn't fit their agenda. You will never please everybody. If all you look for is the negative, you will find it.

By the way, the minister of that church died the day before the convention of cancer.

  3. Speaking of BBB complaints.

90 BBB filings against YTB? In comparison to other similar online agencies listed in Travel Weekly's top 35, let's see.....

Expedia.com - The BBB processed a total of 1024 complaints about this company in the last 36 months.

Orbitz - The BBB processed a total of 1729 complaints about this company in the last 36 months

Travelocity - Number of complaints processed by the BBB in the last 36 months: 1528. And in the last 12 months: 533.

Not to mention...American Express (Travel Related Services Co.) - The BBB processed a total of 606 complaints about this company in the last 12 MONTHS.

    ReplyDelete
  4. However, all of the above listed companies have a SATISFACTORY record with the BBB in resolving the complaints.

    YTB has an UNSATISFACTORY record.

All of the agencies you mentioned are members of the BBB in good standing, which means they have agreed to follow the BBB rules and guidelines as far as advertising and arbitration.

YTB is not a member of the BBB.

I'd personally rather deal with a member of the BBB with a Satisfactory rating than a non-member with an unsatisfactory rating.

  5. As I dig deeper, and look at the BBB listing for YTB in Englewood Cliffs NJ, I find this:

    "BBB Accreditation Status

On August 12, 2008 the membership was suspended due to recent government action involving the business's customer relations which indicates a significant failure of the business to meet standards of conduct expected of a BBB member. The matter will be reviewed by the BBB's Board of Directors at its next meeting on September 23, 2008."

  6. Firemedic...while the ratio of complaints to sales is miniscule to all parties, YTB's is many times higher than any of the others.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The "unsatisfactory" rating is due to "unresolved" cases. That does not mean they are not being addressed. Again, your words John, "miniscule". But, if someone wants to only focus on the negative like you do, then sure, it will look bad. Just like the tabloids. Just like the local evening news. If you only listen to the news then you would be led to believe that we have lost the war in Iraq and that the earth will end to global warming next year. If you ask the people from Iraq you will get a large majority saying things are better and a few that say it's not. It's the few that get the focus (just like John does). I talked to an Iraqi taxi cab driver last week and said he thought things were better and getting better everyday. No matter how miniscule, if one wanted to focus on American Express then one could make the same negative case everyday on a blog. It's all how one chooses to focus their attention. Funny thing is that neither one, positive or negative, is the truth. It's only perception and we get to choose it.

  8. Josh,

Just like the IATAN issue was being "fixed", just like RCCL was "being fixed". There is no way YTB will resolve the issues. As long as the zombies keep pumping money into them, they just don't care.

  9. "By the way, the minister of that church died the day before the convention of cancer."

But I bet that will touch NO ONE here.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Well thats a horrible thing to say. So because we are anti-mlm we are heartless? So because he was YTB minister we don't care that he died. Or is it that all us TTA's are athiests. Horrible. You people are too much.

It is very sad when someone dies. I've seen far too much death in this lifetime from cancer, its a horrible thing. I would hope, however, being a man of god he is in a much better place then here will ever be.

  11. Looks like we have some creative writing going on.

That's the world of the internet.

    No way to substantiate claims.

I particularly loved the "creative" complaint about the employee who recently worked there and only got a "Sam's Wholesale pumpkin pie" as a Christmas bonus.

This imposter should have known he or she would be called out on this one.

ALL employees received TRIPLE Christmas bonuses the past two years.

    Not Sam's Wholesale pies.

    MONEY.

    The average was $2000.

    And as high as $6000.

A third of it paid by the YTB Directors.

    Good try.

Looks like a campaign of creative writing by some of the typical anti-YTB internet folks.

Kind of like a Code Pink thing.

Hear about the latest place to protest YTB.

Let's all head there and do our creative writing.

    WAY too convenient.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Mix--are you an employee? A director? Maybe Coach collected the money and gave them pies? How do you know.

I certainly don't but obviously that former employee does.

I am merely pointing out that it is not only the TTAs and the law enforcement of this country that have issues with YTB and MLM but there are issues in their own back yard as well.

    ReplyDelete
  13. John, I was there also when the checks were presented to the employees. If they had been there for more than a year they got a full check. Even the ones who had only been there for a month got one but maybe not as large, which was only fair. Didn't see one pie.

Again John, law enforcement had a problem with the men charged in the Duke Lacrosse team. Many in the media made them out to be rapists. It even crossed racial boundaries. In the end, look what happened. Those guy's reputation was dragged through the mud. They too were assumed guilty since charges were filed. In YTB's case they are being sued. If they really had anything to sink their teeth into they would have filed a "cease and desist" order and filed actual charges. It's a fishing expedition just like most all networking companies have to go through. I'm just glad we are finally getting ours out of the way.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh come on now John. When anyone says anything bad about YTB its either a TTA lying, or a disgruntled employee who didn't know "how to work the program". YTB is NEVER WRONG, in fact maybe they should be sainted for the do-gooders they all claim to be.

Everyone is lying...Mix is always right!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Mixed Up knows little to nada about what goes on at HQ. He's not there and he does not sit in on the board meetings. To read his comments one would think he is sitting on Coaches right hand.

    ReplyDelete
  16. firemedic-Why the heck are you bringing up the Duke case? It has no bearing here. Besides it's past history time to move on.

Interesting, I googled firemedic and found you all over the right wing nut job sites ranting your blahter. Figures.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'll be the first one to say that YTB HAS been wrong in some cases and WILL CONTINUE TO BE wrong in other cases. Next??

That's NO different than any other company, organization or individual. NO ONE can be right 100% of the times. How many of those other organizations or individuals do you spend 85% of your day talking about????? Insane!!

I'm off to work! Have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  18. An interesting side note to what FireMedic states above.......He says "Not to mention...American Express (Travel Related Services Co.) - The BBB processed a total of 606 complaints about this company in the last 12 MONTHS."

While this is true, what you have to remember is that American Express is not just a travel agency. They have many different divisions, and that 606 complaints encompasses ALL divisions of American Express, not just their travel agencies. And, if you look closely, you will see that there were only 253 complaints taken in the last 12 months. The 600+ were in the last 36 months. Big difference there, FireMedic.

If you don't believe me, I got my information from the American Express page at BBB.org. You can look for yourself here: http://search.newyork.bbb.org/reports.aspx?pid=44&page=1&id=605

  19. AT - I am sorry I can't claim some of those blogs. It's funny how you people attack the person when you have nothing to offer to deflect from ignorance. That seems to be the method of operation here. I am not part of any gun clubs, rummy clubs, or religious forums. I am however a conservative. Are all the TTA's liberals? If so, that would explain the unhappiness.

As far as the Duke case: John was making a point of the "law enforcement" making the claims of guilty therefore YTB is automatically guilty. Seems we all want to think we are innocent until proven guilty but that is not the case. YTB is being sued. That's it. That, in itself, has no meaning other than they are being sued. Now, anyone gets to attach whatever meaning they want to that. If you are anti-YTB, then they are guilty until proven innocent (even then I doubt they will buy it). Just like the kids in the Duke lacrosse team. Several people (except for the ones that actually KNEW the kids) assumed they were guilty. In the end the case was dropped. They were innocent. Those of us that have ACTUALLY been around YTB know a different YTB than you do.

  22. Ainsworth, all the above were for the last 36 months. Including YTB's.

    ReplyDelete
  23. FireMedic, it was YOU that stated it was for the last 12 months. You even uppercased it for emphasis. I am the one that pointed out that it is for 36 months.

ytb, on the other hand, aside from having all the complaints filed against them with the BBB in MO, also has complaints filed with the BBB in NJ, MD, NC, GA, and FL.

    ReplyDelete
  24. All of them have complaints from multiple states.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Denyse, I just have 1 question for you. How many people on your team make 6 figure incomes per month?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maybe, but ytb's are SO easy to find, and are all related somehow to their claims of "travel this" and "travel that". We don't know what the American Express claims are in reference to. Could be travel, could be their charge card, could be their banking service, could be their financial services. So, to point out that American Express has had complaints is a moot point.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Addendum to above....in the last 12 months, more than half of the AMEX complaints have in NO WAY been related to travel, but to "billing, Credit, or Collection" issues.

That's NO different than any other company, organization or individual. NO ONE can be right 100% of the times."

That's true, no company can be 100% right all the time, but reputable companies, when they find something wrong, take the proper steps to correct the situation, and take steps to make sure that it never happens again.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hey did you catch that Denyse is going to work? With all those millions you make with YTB why go to work? I thought the gravy just poured in and supported that huge mansion you own in crack city. LOL! You people are so fake it's not even funny.

Oh, and firemedic. Duke case has no bearing again. And, that is you on the right wing nut job sites. Can't deny it. Saw your profile same as the one you had here before you deleted it. Do you really think we are that stupid. And, commenting on our political affiliations have no bearing here. Another deflection. Stick to the topic. Or do you need a bouncing red ball to follow along?

  30. WHo would start a meeting with
"this IS a get rich quick company"?

Seriously, even if it was, who would say that?

Is it possible that the first thing said at that meeting was "this ISN't a get rich quick company?"

    ReplyDelete
  31. AT - whatever. Maturity. Again, you have to attack the person instead of the issue. If you can't agree on something you have to make comments like "right wing nut jobs". If you can't see the comparison I made with the Duke case then I don't know what to tell you. Point was, they were innocent yet assumed guilty. Same here with YTB. Assumed guilty without their day in court yet.

Josh, I don't believe there was a meeting started wit "this is a get rich quick company". If it was true then that was wrong and we all know that. Again, if the company knew about it they would be gone. I would bet you are right about them saying it wasn't a get rich quick company. That is all I have heard and if I was at a meeting that someone said that I personally would be sure to correct them on that.

    ReplyDelete
  32. firemedic-You questioning my maturity is really laughable. You who are defending a company whose practices are shoddy at best. YTB is unethical. YTB is sleazy. And, you keep coming on here every day defending them. Nothing you say or do is going to change any of our minds and just makes you look plain foolish.

As to your posting on the right wing nutjob sites just shows what kind of person you are. Someone on the fringe.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Unethical, shoddy, sleazy. All accusations and conclusions coming from people that truly know nothing about YTB. Again, I read read blogs all day and study about SCUBA diving all day and think I know what it is and what it's like. But until I actually get in the water I don't truly KNOW, I just know ABOUT it. So you keep attacking people personally because of ignorance and lack of maturity. You don't make the TTA's look any better than those you claim makes YTB look bad. So just what kind of person are you if you claim I am "someone on the fringe"? Are you saying you are a better person?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hey firemedic I'll answer that question you are a weirdo that's what you are. Plain and simple.

And, don't give us the innocent I never attack anyone act honey because it was proved otherwise. You are a liar too.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Firemedic.

There have been countless posts from ex-ytbers that didn't make money with the program. They've been all called liars or lazyasses pretty much. They've been on the inside and saw what it really was. But then again, when anyone from YTB says anything OTHER THEN THE COMPANY IS PERFECT..they are accused of being a liar, or a TTA undercover. Hell we've even been accused of paying off the AG.

We actually know an agent who JOINED YTB..not as a rep..as an RTA, and from a TTA POV its still looks the same. No different. You can all claim that YTB is the bee-knees of course because your in it..nobody has yet to PROVE they actually make any money selling travel.

    ReplyDelete
  36. YOu may not like the total, but I posted HERE 6 months of 10% overrides from travel sales on my power team. It was admittedly on 2300 but not bad from other people's work. Adding to that 2 RTAs on my power team just added 18 cabins to a group today. I will get the 10% override on that. I am ok with that.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Miss Kitty....to be expected from you. Glad you can feel better about yourself at the expense of someone else.

I don't think anyone with any real sense claims that YTB is perfect. I don't know any real companies that make it big do so without making mistakes. The problem is when people operate with a mindset of "I am afraid to make a mistake" rather than understanding mistakes will be made and we will learn from them and we will be stronger because of it. So just because someone or some company makes a mistake it doesn't mean that they are evil and they should go away. If that is the case then none of us should be working for the companies we do because they have surely made a mistake somewhere and they should be shut down. Again, I am glad these lawsuits are finally underway so we can get them out of the way.

Lisa, trying to explain your business model and ours is like trying to describe what blue looks like to someone that has never opened their eyes. We not only sell travel but we get paid to do the word of mouth advertising. We don't spend the millions of dollars in advertising that a company has to spend to sell $414 million in travel that we sold last year and will more than double next year. That's the difference, you sell all the travel yourself and we sell lots of travel as a team and the money a traditional model would spend on advertising is given back to the reps in the field.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I must also clarify that the Reps don't get paid to sell travel. They only get paid to build the word of mouth advertising. The RTA's sell travel. An RTA can also choose to be a Rep, but they are different.

  39. "Hey did you catch that Denyse is going to work? With all those millions you make with YTB why go to work? I thought the gravy just poured in and supported that huge mansion you own in crack city. LOL! You people are so fake it's not even funny."

I don't know why I am even explaining because I really don't have to, but I work YTB full time. Additionally, I never said I make millions YET.

You all should really be careful about the names you call people.....first its not nice. But it also borders on illegality. Why can't you attack issues rather than people????? You barely know the issues, but you certainly DON'T know us!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. "I don't know why I am even explaining because I really don't have to, but I work YTB full time. Additionally, I never said I make millions YET."

Denyse-LOL. Yes, you did. All over this blog. And you bragged you live in a 500,000 house in the inner city.

"You all should really be careful about the names you call people.....first its not nice. But it also borders on illegality. "

Honey, are you threatening us? You seem to do that a lot on here. Don't like what we post threaten to sue us, threaten, threaten, threaten. Last time I checked blogs are protected against the First Amendment. And I doubt you have the money to sue us. And, honey there has been plenty of crap and insults thrown here by little ole you. So, don't give me that garbage you are offended. You don't like it here go somewhere else where they drink the Kook Aid like you and think like you do....

Firemedic-Want me to dig up the thread where it documents you going off on everyone?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Miss Kitty...Going "off" on everyone? What is your definition of "going off"? When I talk about making personal attacks I am talking about calling people "liars, dolts, idiots, !@#holes, wierdos, nut jobs, sleazy, shoddy, ....." It think it's one thing to attack ideas but a totally different thing to attack the person since we don't actually KNOW anyone on here. I did call Mark Ewing a "tool" and "scammer" on a different site a few months back and I should not have done that. I apologized. I did however attack his ideas and that's a big difference. So Miss Kitty I am not going to call you a "liar" like you do. I don't know you. Heck, I may have opened a door for you at one time or another.
