Who The Hell Are You?

This blog prides itself on being an open forum for discussion. We do not moderate posts, we do not edit them, and we certainly do not delete those that oppose our position as other blogs will do. We think that obviously shows in the comments. We also encourage our readers to review the comments. Some of the recent ones post to the main page, but to get a real feel, one needs to dig deeper. By clicking on either the title of an entry or the "comment" link at the bottom, you will be able to enjoy the unedited remarks made by everyone.

We also allow "anonymous" posts. Personally, it seems the cowardly way out. After all if you are not willing to stand by your own opinions, why should anyone else deem them worthy of any consideration? Just a thought.

And finally, please let us know who you are. On the right side of the blog there is a survey. We just want to know in which category you fall--traditional travel agent, MLM agent, supplier, association or just someone that is interested in reading the blog. This survey is located right below the widgets that list our top keyword searches and our top visiting countries.

Thanks to everyone for their participation, their comments, and for reading.

  1. John, you've touted in the past the "suppliers" are monitoring this blog. How do you know this? Now, don't give me the "Who Are You" vote in your blog reveals the answer, cuz it don't. Anyone can indicate they are a "supplier" and there is no way to check this out for accuracy. And, why is it that none of the so called "suppliers" are not commenting on your blog? The only comment I've ever seen is from some guy who apparently is a bottom rung order taker. How are you going to spin this one?

  2. Actually, Andrew is a tour operator/consolidator that YTB actually uses. Such respect for your peers in the industry there OLE.

  3. You can see the various networks that log in. AOL can be anyone, but when you see carnival.com you can make the assumption that it is a supplier--or someone logging in via a supplier's network.

The survey could be anyone. You can click what you like and there is no verification.

  4. Bottom rung order taker?

You have no clue who I am or what company I work for.

Typical YTB way to try and spin something. If someone is more knowledgeable than you, insult them.

I would be happy to tell John who I work for. To be honest, olescorekeeper, since you cannot remain professional, I simply don't want you to know.

  5. If Andrew is a tour operator or consolidator, we are glad to listen to him. But to defend Ole, how to you know for certain on an internet blog?

I am a Director with YTB. I have not chosen as Doug has to reveal my identity. Doug also markets his business on the internet and it works well for him.

I had someone ficticiously use the name lbtravel yesterday and post something. It was not from me.

If a supplier does indeed post on this blog, I'm all for it. Just realize there is a certain cynicism that goes along with this blog to being with. When you have JF doing everything he can do to discredit your career, you tend to have your back up from time to time.

  6. I don't think Ole has any respect for any suppliers, maybe no one at YTB does, unless of course they want a discount or a fam.

  7. Yes you don't know who's who on the blog, however, why would you call someone a bottom rung order taker for no reason anyway? Its disrespectul, and I don't think I've seen Andrew say anything truly negative or harse either direction. Uncalled for...I think so.

You still didn't answer my question, "And, why is it that none of the so called "suppliers" are not commenting on your blog?" Any ideas?

  9. perhaps they are, as anonymous...

I choose not to reveal who I am because I have seen here that at least one person posting here was being harrassed by other posters - no thank you.

What do you have TL to back up your statement? If Andrew is a "tour operator/consolidator that YTB uses" I'm sure he would be proud to state the name of his business.

    "Bottom rung order taker?"

Did I say it was you Andrew? Hummm...I didn't have a clue your head would pop-up out of the cellar when I used the phrase "bottom rung order taker". Interesting.

"You have no clue who I am or what company I work for."

    True..but who's asking?

"Typical YTB way to try and spin something. If someone is more knowledgeable than you, insult them."

Taker easy there Andrew. Not trying to spin or insult. I merely asked John why it is that none of the so called "suppliers" are commenting on his blog expect for a "bottom runger", then low and behold, you show up insinuating I insulted you. I don't even know who you are or what you do for a living

"I would be happy to tell John who I work for. To be honest, olescorekeeper, since you cannot remain professional, I simply don't want you to know."

    That works for me.

Oh, but there is good reason TL. A bottom rung order taker doesn't usually speak in any official capacity for his company.
I suspect most "suppliers" "monitoring" this blog are lower echelon employees. I'm sure John thinks otherwise.

"Its disrespectful, and I don't think I've seen Andrew say anything truly negative or harse either direction. Uncalled for...I think so."

Travellisa, I don't even know who Andrew is. Also, was it not you, or one of your TTA associates on this blog, that said Carnival was a "bottom feeder cruise line"? Is that not somewhat disrectful?

  11. Your right Ole, you don't know Andrew or in what capacity he is with his company. For all you know he is the owner. From what I see he's the only supplier to openly admit as such..if it wasn't him you were referring who was it? Do I have evidence to back up who he is..yeah I do, I've worked with his company, am I giving it to you..no, thats his decision not mine. Yes it probably was me who said that about "the cruise line" itself..not one person in particular. My opinion to not like Carnival, and I have my reasons...but I've never said anything about any specific person. Nor do I think anyone who actually works for a living behind a desk earning an honest days pay instead of pimping out friends and family to sell websites is a "bottom rung order taker".

  12. Olescorekeeper

Oh come off it... you were referring to me because I am one of the few suppliers that comments on here.

I have let John know where I work.

Even if I were a "bottom rung order taker" I would still ACUTALLY be selling travel. What a concept!

What?..that he IS the owner? Sorry, I must have missed that memo.

"if it wasn't him you were referring who was it?"

I don't recall who it was since it was some time ago. Like I said, I don't know who Andrew is.

"Do I have evidence to back up who he is..yeah I do, I've worked with his company, am I giving it to you..no, that's his decision not mine."

So if you know him, at least he or you can say what "rung" he is on in "his company". That's pretty easy and not too revealing, don't you think?

"Yes it probably was me who said that (bottom feeder cruise line) about "the cruise line" itself..not one person in particular. My opinion to not like Carnival, and I have my reasons...but I've never said anything about any specific person."

You've "never said anything about any specific person"? Well, TreavLisa, you just insulted the thousands of personnel who work for that "bottom feeder" Carnival Cruise Line. For that you should be ashamed of yourself. They are nice people like you just trying to make a living.

  14. Olescorekeeper -

Does it matter what "rung" I am on?

Would my opinion or experience matter less or more if I were higher or lower in my company?

Are you some sort of elitist?

I sell travel... all day... and very well.

  15. Andrew has previously posted that he works for a supplier that is currently working with YTB. He is the only poster who has identified himself as such.

Gee, maybe all the pro-YTB people here are actually the same person or the same two people? Who knows? It's true that you can hide in cyberspace to some degree ....

    ReplyDelete
  16. No actually, I'm quite sure the people that work at Carnival are nice. The few I've spoken to have been. Its the ships themselves I'm not fond of. :P

    First this---True..but who's asking?
Then this---So if you know him, at least he or you can say what "rung" he is on in "his company".

"Sorry, I must have missed that memo."
"I don't recall who it was..."

    Just how "ole" is Ole?...
