A Zealot Sees The Light!

One of the vehement YTB supporters has jumped ship. I know what the two main responses from the pro-YTB crowd will be:

  • There are 139,999 others that are making tons of money
  • YTB did not fail him, he failed himself

But YTB did indeed fail him. Again with such a high number of people earning next to nothing --or even nothing, I am still shocked that more people do not see this. They merely accept the notion that they are going to be the next multi millionaire director.

The gentleman who resigned has spent the last 4 or five months vehemently defending YTB and their programs--2 Fly Free, the program in general, Europe, IATAN, RCCL, Stock prices, etc. He took the YTB bait hook, line and sinker and failed. Yes, part of it may have been his fault, but why did the program not do more to salvage him?

From this message (a comment on this blog) it seems that his PTL was more interested in selling websites.

I don't like my sponsor. I cancelled my YTB RTA and REPs accounts Monday of this week. My sponsor and PTL were the same person and it was not a good arrangement for me. Generally, when you enroll in YTB, you have a sponsor and my sponsor's sponsor would be my PTL. Under Proud's arrangement, Proud would be both the sponsor and PTL. My plans are to look for a good travel company who will sign up a guy with no certifications. YTB will take me back in four months, but so far I haven't found a sponsor I am bonding with. I can tell you all other travel mlm's beside YTB are out of the question.

  1. Does this person want to me in travel or an mlm?

Why is this person only interested in a company that will take someone with no certifications?

  2. I can say that YTB did NOT fail him. I won't say that HE failed however. But, did he contact his power team leader and ask for help? If his PTL said no, did he ask for his pTL;s PTL's contact info? If he did not do those 2 things, then HE DID FAIL. Did he contact the home office to find out who his upline director was?
Again, there are resources (people) available to help. When someone joins my team, whether it is on my power team or on someone in my power team's power team, I make sure to initiate contact and let them know that I am also available for assistance to them.

John makes it seem that it is YTB's fault that it didn't work out for ROD.
I will admit that it is either his fault, or someone or someone(s) in his uplines fault. There is no way of YTB as a company knowing that he is not happy or not succeeding unless HE opens his mouth.

  3. According to his comments on the other post. He contacted his PTL who he doesnt like. And his PTL's PTL again no luck..and then the director who wouldnt bother returning his call. SO I WOULD SAY YTB FAILED HIM.

  4. Congrats for seeing the light! Here is a site to go to to help you find a new host.

  5. Also try to get a copy of the April issue of Agent@Home Magazine. There is a large and detailed list of Host Agencies in this issue. It is not a complete list though. http://www.agentathome.com/

You can also check out NACTA. They have a host list that I think non-members can view.

OSSN has a host list as well, but it is in the members-only section.

  6. Anon asked, "Why is this person only interested in a company that will take someone with no certifications?"

Probably because they recognize that they have no experience or certifications in the industry and don't want to waste their time talking to host agencies that won't even consider newbies. Seemed like a perfectly normal thing for a TA-to-be to state.

  7. Well, technically he's no longer a "newbie".....

The entire story really just illustrates that no one (or hardly anyone) at YTB is interested in selling travel - just interested in selling websites and builing a down-line/Power Team. If they were interested, PTLs and Sponsors would actually know something about selling travel..... AND they would be able to assist someone in their down-line on how to do it.

  8. Hi it's me again. This is not suppose to happen. YTB stock is up$1.39!!!!! Up 33 cents! This really erks me. :(
I made a friend a bet that it would crash this week. If it hits $1.50, I promised I would join! Not going to keep that promise.

  9. Did he ask for his PTL's PTL? When that failed did he ask for his PTL's PTL's PTL? When that failed did he do a little dance? Make a little love? Get down tonight?

    This is BS.

I train new employees at my company that actually sells travel. If I don't train them on how to properly sell our product, then I have not done my job.

    Where are you, good buddy?

Are you depressed about the YTB stock going up when you were so confident that YTB was in its last days?

Maybe you are getting the counseling that I suggest you get a couple of days ago. I know life has been depressing for you and now . . . with the stock rising, we may need to put you on a suicide watch.

  18. Hypocrisy at it's best. After reading the torment TTA's give MLM's about drinking kool-aid and being cult fanatics, the tables turn as if they have brought a sinner into the fold of redemption. From the heading of this post "A Zealot sees the light!" to the congratulatory comments, I know ordain the owner of this blog - "John the Fascist".

  22. We have been talking to Rod about his issues with YTB for months. He's not making ANY money with them, in fact hes losing money. Why should he stay.? Seems his PTL, etc didn't give a Rats patooty what he did or if he failed. I'm glad he woke up, and will hopefully find another position with a more lucrative company. I wish him nothing but the best.

  25. Not sure what this says, but when I post a positive note on YTB, like the rebound of the stock the other day, nary a comment from anyone. But when I pose a question or offer an opinion on a RTA that left, all the crowd comes out to crow.

    Good job on the stock!

  26. 5 things that still cost more than 5 shares of YTB:

    1. Parking downtown
    2. A large pizza with soda for the kids
    3. shampoo&conditioner
    4. a multi-pack of toilet paper
    5. An extension cord

  27. Excuse me:

  30. If any of you really think that Rod will not go back to YTB in a hot flash, that is foolish and unrealistic. This entire post is celebrating something that is only temporary at best. Don't hold your breath. He is ready to go back in for months time and has said so on the SCAM forum. As soon as some dolt from YTB promises him the earth, the moon and the stars (and believe me, they will and he will again fall for it), it will be the same old crap for months on end from him once more. He is still convinced in his own words on this forum that it is the best travel MLM out there. He is not going to change his life ever. The proof folks is in the pudding. Why he cannot go out and get a real job and make real money and actually work like other people is interesting. And why he cannot look at and evaulate other real business opportunites besides MLM's is also interesting.

  31. sorry, meant to say he stated that he is "ready to go back in four months time" on the SCAM forum.

  32. This is copied from the SCAM.com site and the author is Rod:
Officially I cancelled my YTB RTA and REP accounts. It's probably going to turn out to be a 4 month YTB sabbatical period.

After mandatory four months disenrollment period, I am eligible to reenroll in YTB under new sponsorship. I am likely to be back in YTB in four months. After 2 years of being in the YTB travel business, I decided my current sponsor who was also my Power Team Leader, and who also lives in Florida, 1000 miles away from my home in Oklahoma, did not fit with my philosophical and leadership desires.

    Hint for No_Moron:

Although I am not enrolled with any travel company at this time, World Ventures is advertising that YTB RTAs are eligible to join them for free sign up costs. Even though I am eligible to move to World Ventures, I refuse to endorse any travel mlm company other than YTB. Translated that means no thank you to any travel mlm except YTB.

YTB RTAs, in four months, I am eligible to enroll under a sponsor of my choice and am interested in a YTB RTA practicing business in a balanced method of selling travel as well as building an organization through recruiting new RTAs into the YTB Travel Business.

Potential RTAs interested in this position can contact me at:
    Rod Ward, recruiting@swrtravel.com

It just goes to show you that you can lead a deaf, dumb, and blind horse to water, but you can't make him smart. To think that some of you fell for this hoodwink from Rod. Coach is God and the cult remains intact.

  33. You asked for it -- and YTB Travel Network delivers! Comprehensive travel training, April 18-19, 2008, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, VA.

For only $20, you may take advantage of two days of comprehensive travel training offered by select YTB preferred vendors, Princess Cruises, CCRA International, American Destinations, Inc., Holland America Line, Trafalgar Tours, Funjet Vacations, Carnival Cruise Lines, and more. Multiple CLIA trainings will be offered for your convenience

  34. Why would they pay $20 for this when training by the cruise lines and suppliers is usually given for free?

  35. LOL - you got to be on a ship to jump ship. Rodney has been a fence straddler since I've known him.

He left other mlm's as well.

He just needs to get a job because he isn't made for mlm.

The last few months have been sickening to watch as he hemhawed and blamed everyone but the true reason - himself.

Good luck Rod - but cry on another shoulder. You just suck at mlm and it's nobodies fault but your own.

    C ya . . .

  36. Amazing how you RTA's can write and spell. No wonder you are so enamored of YTB no one else will hire you because RTA's can't read or write.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Nice words, Tom, for probably the only person in the world who admires you. Especially when you have also failed at numerous mlms.
As an avid reader and commentator on Scam, you know that Rod blames himself for his failure. But, he's in good company with the other 89% of YTBers who also fail. YTB doesn't care who they sign up as long as the checks clear. It's despicable isn't it?

  38. Cute Ole, but I don't watch soap operas. Used to piss off my sisters father-in-law too because he was the director for Guiding light. Never got into them..but thanks for listing all of them, which of them do you watch since you seem to know them all.

  40. Eddie, did you miss all of Rod's posts on Scam and this Forum where Rod clearly blames not only himself but his director, YTB and the people he signed up himself under him????

He just needs to go out and get a real job in the real world and make some real money instead of sitting on his butt all day posting on forums and whinning and playing out his pathetic life in public frankly. Interesting that he never has an answer for that either. The guy simply refuses to work and expects to make money for nothing or in sham businesses and then cries about it. Rod - Go get a job already! You might actually earn a paycheck and pay your bills then. Gee what a concept. lol

  41. Thanks Mr. Mencik. That's very helpful. Thanks for the thoughts everyone.

I am relaxing at home tonight and experienceing the best feeling a person can have -- "I am free!"

Obviously, I concentrated too much on time on scam.com. The primary backlash is I didn't get educated in travel as I should have over the last 2 years. I am terribly lacking in professional certifications. I am now concentrating on travel training as one of my main things. I attended a live YTB sponsored CLIA mini-course today in Dallas TX with Kim Sorenson, Trafalgar Tour Company, Collette Vacations, and American Destinations, Inc. I learned about selling groups to a variety of clients.

I am not disgruntled with YTB. I simply had the wrong the sponsor and remote partnership was the deciding factor in the relationship not working. Today, I saw YTB putting forth effort to get the RTAs trained in travel.

Also, I heard the YTB end of year travel figures from the President of YTB Travel today. You'll have to wait for the published financials because I'm not telling what I know.

The 2 years I used to vent on scam.com could have been used studying and training in travel. I chose the former because I was driven by my search and research for the truth. Truth about mlm and YTB in general was just out of reach. There were so many counter arguments that needed just one more fact to clear it up for me then came another and another and another. When it looked like the answer was just about to be found, another counter appeared. I was consumed in both ending it and continuing it. Then I discovered I don't have the power to end it because there will always be questions unanswered, skeptics who will never be convinced, and objections by some to the way things are. Whether I will be back in 4 months with a new YTB sponsor and rested and better trained and able to sell travel or become an independent contractor with a host of my choice is yet to be known. All options are on the table.

I have no ill feelings toward YTB. My feelings are dead center directed at my (former)sponsor.

The two years of experiences, both good and bad, financial losses, and relationships I've developed with a community I both love and hate have helped me appreciate and value the travel industry more than I ever have and I want to do my part to make it the best it can be.

  44. I am not understanding something. Rod drops YTB on Monday and then on Saturday he's in training with YTB? This man needs to see a deprogrammer.

    Anonymous said...

Funny thing is, if you read his post, he didn't figure it out. I am also sure that the Holy Sorenson will scam Rod back into their clutches of the cult. After 2 long years in YTB he still hasn't come to realize that YTB's business is selling websites and worthless training. They have no interest in travel.

I think he and Doug should team up. If you read Doug's blog this past week, you will see where he is pleading for justification and integrity. He even brings his faith in God into it yet he has no problem with selling a known business failure venture to the masses. I also should mention that I am no longer welcome to post there because he "can't help me any longer." I will bet he could if I dangled 500 smackers in front of him. He would even get a whopping $50 of that $500. That 10% is worse than most suppliers pay. Has anyone else noticed that the YTB people refer to the Power Team as PTL? Praise the Lord and send me your bucks.

This forum should be renamed: MLMs, Travel, and Religion: A Bad Mix.

  45. I am still trying to figure out why the Rod just doesn't go out and get a real job in the real world and make real money like the majority of the rest of the planet and quit all the whimpering, excuses, attention seeking, pity and wasting money and his life with loser scams. This guy's issues go way beyond YTB folks. It's him.
