I just read this "Story" on the Biz Report about Coach's recent trip to SFO. I am not quite sure how to take it. This whole presentation is so slimy and predatory in my opinion. A deathbed promise to "change the world". He feels the manifestation in the room. This just makes me shudder.
Before he had to catch his flight? Come on, he has a Lear Jet--no flight times there. And then when the directors presented a Pyramid Award under the guise of it being a reminder of what people can do. Talk about rubbing it in one's face. I am sure old Coach and Ron and Judy had a good laugh on the flight home on that one!
The Golden Gate was lit up with the inaugural visit of Coach Tomer and Level 7 Directors Ron and Judy Head in the Bay Area on Friday, May 30, 2008. Nearly 1,000 enthusiastic RTAs and guests poured in to meet and greet Coach, Ron, and Judy at the largest YTB event to date in the Bay Area.
The California Expansion Team NorCal Directors (Arlyne Thompson, Mary Liu and Jenny Campbell ("The Sisters"), Silke Degenhardt, and Aurora and Caryl Mulchand) hosted this momentous event. The evening unfolded with opening remarks by Debra Hubers-Paradis (President's Sapphire Ring wearer), and a business overview by Level 3 Director Arlyne Thompson. Coach commented that it was the best business presentation he had ever seen.
When Coach took the stage, he asked Arlyne to join him so he could interview her. During the interview, Coach asked her about the infamous Ms. Bessie (Arlyne's 76-year-old sponsor). Arlyne said, "Let's see if she's here." To everyone's surprise Ms. Bessie stood up in the crowd and was invited to come forward. Coach was ecstatic to finally meet Ms. Bessie and spent a few minutes interviewing her, stating that Scott couldn't wait until he could award her with the Presidential ring.
Coach then delivered a heartfelt message on the miracle of creation and how each of us was created for a purpose. Everyone was moved by his story about his mother's vision (while she was in her death bed) that Coach's purpose was to change the world. Coach said he believed the manifestation of his purpose was coming to fruition and that it was felt at this meeting tonight.
Next, Ron Head shared his story in his down-to-earth style. His humor had the crowd roaring with laughter.
Silke, Mary Liu, Jenny, Aurora, and Caryl shared their stories with the audience, as well as Directors Mike "The Travel Guy" Reams and Shawn Dougherty, from Reno, Nevada. Numerous $10,000 Dream Bonus earners and Coach's Corner members had an opportunity to also briefly address the audience. Everyone, including Coach, was touched by how YTB has impacted each of the individual's lives.
Before Coach dashed out for his flight, the CET NorCal Directors presented Coach, Ron, and Judy with a token of appreciation - beautifully hand-carved natural Himalayan salt lamps in the shape of a pyramid. Ron was asked to read the inscription on the plaque, which read "Hey Coach! Is it a 'Pyramid'?" Coach, Ron, and Judy burst into laughter as did the crowd. Jenny Campbell shared that pyramids are a reminder of what a person can do when one sets their mind to anything. The gift was symbolic of Coach's mindset to create the largest travel company in the world, and YTB is well on its way. Jenny added that we all should set our mind to be a part of that historical growth and be a success with YTB.
The evening concluded with the showing of the ABC News clip of Lady Liberty on two large screens to the thrill of the audience. Folks walked away from the Bay Area's largest YTB event with a feeling of gratitude and excitement.
Thanks to Mary Liu and Jenny Campbell for this great recap of a great event!
Well John, your post had 2 paragraphs of your own writing. The second one started out with a premise that was not what was in what you posted. The story you posted didn't say he had to "catch" a flight. That's the part you commented on. It said he "dashed out for HIS flight"
ReplyDeleteThere is a difference and it is a small detail but yet another piece of bad reporting on your part. And it always makes it easy when your post doesn't jive with what you actually post.
So you're going to debate the difference between "catch" and "dash"? I believe they both mean he was in a hurry to catch a flight. Nice deflection from what the article is really about moron.
ReplyDeleteIdiot---regardless of word choice if he has a private plane he does not need to "dash out" for his flight. It is not like it is leaving without him.
ReplyDeleteYou have to love the "ABC NEWS" clip. The clip was shown on the local affiliate NOT on ABC News. There is a big deal. Just like the scamming RTAs in Houston or Tennessee or Baltimore---it was on affiliates, not ABC NEWS.
But old Coach probably was excited to dash out for his flight to count the money he will make off the suckers that were there!
What happens when Coach sneezes. You can't say God Bless You...apparently that has already been done.
It's truly a sad day in hell when people you can't stand are having a better life than you are at the moment. That's just not fair! (are you gonna keep being this emotionally whiney about ytb?)
ReplyDelete"Catch a flight" or "dash off to a flight". Why can't you have to do that for a private jet? Maybe, you've got something else on the return end of it to get back to? Even if it's a night's sleep for the next day's agenda? geez....
YTB is a cult.
ReplyDelete"Coach is one scary dude." Well, since I'm not a TTA - Coach does not scare me! lol....
ReplyDeleteBut someone please explain this deathbed proclamation and the manifestation?
ReplyDeleteCOach has told the story about his dieing mother for as long as I have known him
ReplyDeleteTTA's are a cult - w/John as their fearful and whiney leader.
ReplyDeleteIt blows my mind that no one in YTB feels that these words and actions (Coach's manifestation et al) are just a little bit over the top
ReplyDeleteI think it showed a great sense of humor that they presented him w/a pyramid.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it blows YTB's mind that John and followers are "over the top" obsessed with them. I mean, come on now, John has it right here that YTB's one of the leading indicators for the decline of the travel industry! Speaking of over the top statements. YTB is going to make people quit traveling now! HAH! lol...
Where was it said that YTB was a leading indicator of the decline of the travel industry?
ReplyDeleteAS to the sense of humor...well, it probably was an inside joke. You ARE a pyramid scheme.
uh...read your little explanation blurb under your blog's title.
ReplyDeleteAnd why hasn't the illegal PYRAMID been shut down after like 8 years now? LOL...
I have never said you were an ILLEGAL pyramid scheme. You operate in the grey area between legal and illegal. As mentioned you are reactionary and will do things illegally or imorrally until caught and then make the corrections. Can you say California, Rhode Island, IATAN, RCCL, Canada?
ReplyDeleteANd I stand corrected. Have not looked at the blurb for a while but thanks for the reminder. And upon reflection, I stand by it.
"TTA's are a cult - w/John as their fearful and whiney leader."
ReplyDeleteYea right you idiot. John is preaching God and YTB and telling us what to do. All John is doing is exposing the truth about YTB which you can't handle.
FYI-I was on a fam and everyone hates YTB including the suppliers who are forced to do business with you.
uh...IDIOT? why don't YOU go look up the definition of cult and you'll see how TTA's here fit the definition along w/YTB. as well as all religions, political parties, book clubs, etc.
ReplyDeleteJohn said...
ReplyDelete"I have never said you were an ILLEGAL pyramid scheme. You operate in the grey area between legal and illegal."
Stupid statement. There is NO grey area. The laws regarding illegal pyramid schemes are clear. It either IS, or is NOT!. Kind of like a pregnant woman. She either IS or is NOT. No grey area!
Crotch is the messiah! Prays the crotch!
ReplyDeleteThis is like Jonestown #2!
Thank you F. Lee I was hoping a legal genius might show up and set the record straight!
ReplyDeleteHow do you explain that little deal about Rick and Brenda Ricketts in Florida? You know the one with the investigation by the Attorney General that that seemingly went away just before SENATOR Burt Saunders was promised a YTB Board spot?
YTB fits every legal definition of "Pyramid Scheme" except for one - that is the cost to join - YTB is only $1.00 off officially being a Pyramid Scheme.

ReplyDeleteThank you F. Lee I was hoping a legal genius might show up and set the record straight!
How do you explain that little deal about Rick and Brenda Ricketts in Florida?
Well John, (the F. Lee comment gave you away) since you are the bigger genius, you should known that the Ricketts deal had nothing to do with YTB. It was only between them and the AG. Good try.
Sorry, the F. Lee comment was not me. I own up to my comments, but since you claim that it had nothing t do with YTB, what other company was he selling travel websites for? Now I do know the page is not displaying but the quote is accurate. And as an independent, YTB would have left him out to dry as they would every other Rep or RTA. But come on now, there were some "arrangements" made now weren't there? (Wink Wink)
ReplyDeleteCase information can be found online at:
http://myfloridalegal.com/lit_ec.nsf/investigations/ E5753C00CCA85B05852571AA005A4C44
Rick & Brenda Ricketts, as their corporation and as individuals, are accused of the following (quoted from the above referenced online document):
"Allegation or issue being investigated: Possible unfair and deceptive business practices in the sale of internet travel website opportunities or in the recruitment and operation of multi-level marketing systems promoting business opportunities and recruiting sellers of travel. Possible violations of Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, Chapter 501, Part II, Fla. Stat., and violations of Section 849.091, Fla. Stat., prohibiting operating, participating in, or soliciting on behalf of a chain letter or pyramid sales scheme."

You know what I'm talking about. The AG action was not against YTB at all. The AG was NOT investigating YTB as shown by your case information.
"uh...IDIOT? why don't YOU go look up the definition of cult and you'll see how TTA's here fit the definition along w/YTB. as well as all religions, political parties, book clubs, etc."
ReplyDeleteHere asshole look at these websites. Tells all about cults.

Exactly as I said. Because YTB calls you all "independent" they wash their hands of any of your wrongdoing. What the reps and RTAs do are completely unendorsed by YTB--it is called preventing liability.
ReplyDeleteSo, apparently Rick was up to some shady deals to warrant the interest of the Florida AG..no? And he was working on behalf of YTB...no? And right about the time the investigation was dropped...there was all the hype about a "FL Senator" on the Board of YTB...no? But the timing may not have been too good, so the official announcement came in April of this year...no? Is it a coincidence that the Senator and Ricketts live in the same part of Florida? Is it coincidence that Ricketts is one of the top earners in YTB and hence VERY valuable to Coach as he builds a pyramid? Is it coincidence that a house was built for Ricketts right in the neighborhood of the "River House"?
I can hypothesize about what happened and how it happened, but I figure we are all adults and can probably put two and two together--but not Proud..she is still scratching her head on the sales versus commission thing!
John is Theophobic.
ReplyDeleteScamophobic
ReplyDeleteSchemeophobic
Pyramidaphobic
Coachaphobic
Scottaphobic
Probably...
Theophobic...not really.
you call someone an idiot and asshole - just for giving the clear factual (and unemotional) definition of the word "cult". my, my.... what an intelligent and articulate critter you are! lol... can you actually give your point of view without spewing namecalling along with it? that's the sign of mature intellect you know. (is martha now posting as anon?) if not, do you browbeat your kids/wife the same way?
ReplyDeleteDo look at numbers 4 and 7. I think these would fit YTB for sure:
ReplyDeleteDefinition:
1. religion: a system of religious or spiritual beliefs, especially an informal and transient belief system regarded by others as misguided, unorthodox, extremist, or false, and directed by a charismatic, authoritarian leader
2. religious group: a group of people who share religious or spiritual beliefs, especially beliefs regarded by others as misguided, unorthodox, extremist, or false
3. idolization of somebody or something: an extreme or excessive admiration for a person, philosophy of life, or activity ( often used before a noun )
the cult of youth
a cult hero
4. object of idolization: a person, philosophy, or activity regarded with extreme or excessive admiration
5. fad: something popular or fashionable among a devoted group of enthusiasts ( often used before a noun )
has taken on cult status
6. cultural anthropology system of supernatural beliefs: a body of organized practices and beliefs supposed to involve interaction with and control over supernatural powers
7. sociology elite group: a self-identified group of people who share a narrowly defined interest or perspective
If I can see it, then I can do it
ReplyDeleteIf I just believe it, there's nothing to it
I believe I can fry
I believe I can french the fries
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fry away
I believe I can soar
I see me running through McDonalds open door
I believe I can fry
I believe I can fry
I believe I can fry
YTBSCAM
I might now consider going back to doing business with a TTA.
ReplyDeleteNot only do I get professional help with my travel needs, but TTAs now wear the following hats:
Psychologists
Therapists
Lawyers
Private Investigators
Religious Counselors
What respect I now have for TTAs!
No wonder you charge your service fees.
YTB and TRAVEL: A Great Mix!
"Religious Counselors" - please, that is the private purvue of YTB and it's RTAs!
ReplyDeleteI must have ruffled some feathers. When someone criticizes the almighty, it seems that the retorts are
ReplyDeletea...pick apart grammar
b...call names
c...divert divert divert
Textbook response!
Wonder how yo guys will deal with tomorrow's post???
That just about sums up what's expected of me on any given day Mixed up, except for the Religious counselor bit. I stay away from that and politics.
ReplyDeleteIt's much easier to be an RTA with only a website to refer to.
JF -
ReplyDeleteIf it is as boring and uneventful as today's post, I guess we will deal with it in a similar fashion.
Seems like that has been the rule of thumb in recent days.
YTB and TRAVEL: A Great Mix!
Today's post was pretty insightful. And barring the weekend, blog traffic belies your assertion that the posts are "boring and uneventful".
ReplyDeleteGot some good readers!
Agreed. Another yawner topic. ;>)
ReplyDeleteOleScorekeeper
Ole and Mixed Up just don't know the meaning of the word interesting. Perhaps because THEY are boring and uneventful themselves? Doug's home, they could go there and learn the meaning of those words.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me coach is on a recruiting rampage....
ReplyDeleteSomeone at HQ is not happy with the numbers...
Well I will just REFER you to the blog tomorrow.I know how referring gets you all excited.
ReplyDeleteAs for the recruiting....you are so right there. The base of this pyramid is beginning to weaken. Incoming RTAs are down almost 60% from the last quarter of 2007! ANd that does not even touch on the ones that are bailing out!
A lot of people who were making money are not now. And others who claimed they were making money are making less.
ReplyDeleteJOHN - It was a classy TTA that did the name calling - "idiot" and "asshole." Please get it right.
ReplyDeleteAnd no one beats Martha when it comes to colorful name calling.
Why is it that no one on the mlm side seems to want to address the fact that Tomer is making himself out to be a messenger from above? This whole thing is creepy. Didn't someone mention there is a site that actually compares Tomer to Jesus? And you guys still don't think this is a cult?
ReplyDeleteTime and time again hundreds of people have been relieved of all their money thanks to a very charming guy who led everyone to believe that he had some kind of "in" with God. Tomer is no different. The travel mlm model has hurt far more people than it has helped. The earnings figures speak for themselves.
7. sociology elite group: a self-identified group of people who share a narrowly defined interest or perspective
ReplyDeletecorrect - which applies to both ytb members and tta's on this forum. again, take a minute to educate yourself by looking up the definition of "cult" and see how any group or organization fits that description. so, yes, katie my dear, you belong to the cult of john's TTA's.
ReplyDeletebut it's still no crime and coach doesn't have a corner on a business owner applying his religious beliefs to his business. just as john applies his "non-Christian" beliefs to his.
First of all, I suspect that John is a "Christian" - just not an Evangelical - one need not be one to be a "Christian".
ReplyDeleteSecond, in reference to the above noted definition - it needs to be a defined group - TAs are not actually a group, though members of YTB are. (Take Sociology 101, please and you will learn the definition of a "group" - the correct one here - the sociological definition, not the mathematical one.) On the other hand, there are groups of TAs that could be looked at this way - such as members of Virtuoso, or members of Skall, or members of the CTO, or members of the Travel Institute, or say members of ASTA, etc. But clearly you can not use "cult" to refer to TAs in general, though you can use it to refer to RTAs.
Here is a sociological definition - with the operative point in CAPs:
"In sociology, a group is usually defined as a collection of humans who share certain characteristics, interact with one another, ACCEPT EXPECTATIONS AND OBLIGATIONS AS MEMBERS OF THE GROUP, and share a common identity. Using this definition, society can appear as a large group."
When you define TAs as a "group", you are doing so falsly - you are actually referring only to an "aggregate".
"While an AGGREGATE COMPRISES MERELY A NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS, a group in sociology exhibits cohesiveness to a larger degree."
coach is a crime waiting to happen...to YOU.
ReplyDelete"A lot of people who were making money are not now. And others who claimed they were making money are making less."
ReplyDeleteWhat is going to be interesting to watch is how the down turn in the economy will affect YTB. YTB is full of bottom feeders self booking their own trips and YTB preys on lower income people, welfare and the jail crowd. How much extra money do they have now to blow on booking vacations for themselves?
I have priced vacations on YTB sites and they are higher than even the big on-line guns.
YTB can't offer value and service for their clients that TTA's do.
I hope you RTA's have a plan B.
The reason why we are not a cult is because John is not making money off of us or recruiting us for his downline.
ReplyDeleteTomer is.
And, Tomer is using Jesus. That's pretty sick. Like that kook at Jonestown. And you still don't see it? I think you RTA's are suffering from borderline personality disorder or some psychological problem to get in an MLM in the first place. There are low cost mental health clinics you know.
Jesus Christ Anon---would you just send me my check? There, now I am a cult! LOL
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, YTB IS the Plan B
