It's All About Travel ---Right!

Discovered this blog called Everything Real Estate in Michigan where someone has devised a method to build their own power team. Now, granted, this is probably a great way to do it..essentially you pay them from the proceeds you earn from the bonuses from YTB. But I am pretty sure this was one of the reasons master scammer Piccolo was tossed from YTB.

What is notable (although not particularly earth shattering) is that the only time "travel" is mentioned is in the name of his "company" and his websites. Become an RTA and earn more money from me. 1. This RTA is doing illegal recruiting in the eyes of YTB and should be reported. This is from the REP terms and conditions...

    g. Offering to pay or paying for the RTA positions of another person in whole or in part as
a means of inducing that person to become or remain an RTA or Rep.

With that said, there is nothing wrong with recruiting. Keep in mind, someone who starts a business will build their business perhaps before approaching their first customer. You might have the owner of a store who decides BEFORE opening the doors to hire several salespeople. I see no difference.
In addition, the focus of the COMPANY itself is to sell travel. PERIOD. They way to get there is to have motivated REPS branching out to reach more people to sell more travel.

But, that REP is not following the rules and I will be reporting him

    ReplyDelete
  2. Impossible. There is no way that an RTA would participate in illegal recruiting. There are no crooked RTAs out there!

    ReplyDelete
  3. The focus of YTB is recruiting, not travel, and there is nothing wrong with recruiting. I'm surprised you would report someone just because they bend the rules a little. You must be sorry you didn't think of it first! Seems a lot of RTA and Reps don't follow all the rules, but how would YTB ever know? There are no controls.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Well your sarcasm is noted, but I, as an RTA appreciate John for pointing this out. If we weed out those that bring a bad name, we can finally have all you TTAs going back to work and not trolling these blogs!

    ReplyDelete
  5. The focus of YTB is travel, the focus of each REP is recruiting. There is a major difference. YTB makes no money as a company from recruiting itself, but when those new recruits sell travel in the hundreds of millions collectively, well that pleases the company.

  6. Anonymous--good thing you are smart enough to remain anonymous or you may have surpassed Proud To Be YTB for having uttered one of the most inane comments...

YTB makes no money as a company from recruiting itself,

Uhm, did you happen to look at any of the financial reports? Pick a year, pick a quarter, it does not matter. YTB makes the BULK Of it's money from recruiting! Please refer to page 11 of the 10K filing with the SEC. YTB earned 73.4% of it's income from recruiting. Travel was 14.5% They also paid out more commissions on the recruiting end than the travel end.

So where is it that you feel YTB makes no money off of recruiting. Looking at their net income from recruiting was $23.1 million dollars for 2007

  10. The only thing wrong with this is that the new RTA is rebated $100. But to induce one to join by offering an additional $100 bonus for every new RTA he or she signs up after that is ok.

    ReplyDelete
  11. ...then again, there's a distinction between "offering to pay or paying for the RTA positions of another person in whole or in part as
a means of inducing that person to become or remain an RTA or Rep" and paying a rebate after the new RTA has already paid in full to join.

  12. Glad to see Troll knows where the money is...and it's not in travel sales. Thanks for the admission.
I'm sure coach wholeheartedly approves of any means used to get more $$ in the coffer. Broken rules or not I bet this offer will not be withdrawn. don't tell your downlines!

When you talk to HQ--ask them about the Dubai MLM and Piccolo

  15. "So where is it that you feel YTB makes no money off of recruiting. Looking at their net income from recruiting was $23.1 million dollars for 2007"

Yes, but how much of that money is really theirs? Some, most, or maybe all of that recruiting money will have to be paid out to Reps in the future as they continue to produce, earning their Leadership and Dream Bonuses.

For example, in 2006, YTB netted $6,979,104 on the marketing side. In 2007, they paid out $80,550,029 -- so all of that 2006 money is gone, and then some! As long as the growth continues at the current rate, YTB will pay out more in marketing commissions each year than they netted the prior year.

To say that YTB makes the bulk of its money from recruiting, that's a true statement. But it's not how much you make that matters -- it's how much you keep. The only money YTB can claim without contingency is the retained travel commissions ($7,069,414 for 2007). So, more accurately, YTB keeps no money from recruiting. They survive solely on travel commissions, and that is why they are serious about selling travel, and want to get as many 'travel stores' out there as possible. Capiche?

    ReplyDelete
  16. "So, more accurately, YTB keeps no money from recruiting. They survive solely on travel commissions, and that is why they are serious about selling travel, and want to get as many 'travel stores' out there as possible. Capiche?"

Oh, you are so naive. Who is at the top tier and earning the most on selling sites?

If what you say is true, then they are not making much money at all on either side of the business.

    ReplyDelete
  17. First of all, there are no 'tiers'. The amount of money you make is directly related to the number of sites you and/or your team sells.
And the ones that are earning the most on selling sites are the Reps that do this full time.

Maybe YTB isn't making that much yet (if $7.1M is not much), but that is changing. Watch for further developments.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The Reps are making the money, not the company.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't mean "tier" literally - I mean Coach and Scott and a few others who are Level whatever Directors......

And I have worked for two B&Ms that have netted more than $7.1M with FAR FEWER real TAs than even 10% of your RTAs!

    ReplyDelete
  20. The "Company" has made enough money to buy a LearJet, pay off Coach's Church's mortgage, buy property, etc...

    ReplyDelete
  21. The church's mortgage was paid off with stock Coach personally donated to the church. No company money was used.

The company didn't buy a Learjet --they bought a company that owned a Learjet. Whether is was a cash deal or financed, I don't know. Same with the property.

The company is doing well enough to leverage their success.

    ReplyDelete
  22. "And I have worked for two B&Ms that have netted more than $7.1M with FAR FEWER real TAs than even 10% of your RTAs!"

How many of the 'real TA's' worked full time? If all our RTAs worked full time selling travel, there would be no other travel companies.

    ReplyDelete
  23. How many of the 'real TA's' worked full time? If all our RTAs worked full time selling travel, there would be no other travel companies.

You flatter yourself. you don't sell travel, you sell websites.

  24. Earth to eddie.....

    RTAs sell travel
    Reps sell websites

    Get it? Got it? Good!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I see the jet is in Atlanta today. Coach must be there to deliver Doug's Director's bonus.

    Congrats Doug!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anon said, "The company didn't buy a Learjet --they bought a company that owned a Learjet."

And the great thing about that is if the company opererates under FAR Part 135, COMMUTER AND ON DEMAND OPERATIONS, the plane can be used as a "for hire" charter. That's another steam of revenue to offset the cost of operating a biz jet.

  27. reps and rtas are the same thing. rtas are reps and reps are rtas. ytb is a website selling business that uses travel as the hook. actually, rtas don't actually sell travel do they? they refer people to a site where the people can buy travel. at least thats the way it is supposed to be isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  28. "rtas are reps and reps are rtas."

    Earth to eddie: Not always

"actually, rtas don't actually sell travel do they? they refer people to a site where the people can buy travel.

  29. "...the plane can be used as a "for hire" charter."

So while Johnny is wasting his time tracking the company jet, he never really knows who's aboard, does he? He'll just have to rely on his imagination, as usual.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well, it appears John is not doing his job tracking the jet...so please, allow me.

The jet's been at Atlanta all day today and is now in the air heading to St. Louis as of the time of this post.

John, what is your "little bird" telling you about this visit to Atlanta? I have no clue.

  32. Olescorekeeper---how long did it take to perfect being such an ass? Sorry to disappoint, but I will leave the plane tracking to you. I have no birds in Atlanta, but I do in Saddle Brook. And to confirm my Saddle Brook birdies I will see if the story makes sense with perhaps looking at a flight plan. That's called dotting the "I"s and crossing the "T"s.

But since you asked, maybe he flew to Atlanta to give Doug tenure in the Coach's Society!

  34. John said..."Olescorekeeper---how long did it take to perfect being such an ass?"

Now, the OleScorekeeper did some research on the "A" word and pondered what the meaning would be in the mind of one famed columnist.. and I came up with this. Hope I got it right.

Ass 1. a long-eared, slow, patient, sure-footed domesticated mammal, Equus asinus, related to the horse, used chiefly as a beast of burden.

Some times OleScore feels like an ass. My ears are a bit long..I'm slow but patient. I've been sure-footed, except for that time I feel off the roof installing that TV antenna. I'm a mammal..a good old able-bodied warm-blooded vertebrate. And as for being used as a beast of burden? Yeah that too as a "beast of burden" is a semi-domesticated man that labors for the benefit of a woman.

So, to answer your question, yep I guess I have to say I've been an "ass" most of my life. ;>)

  45. Wow! I haven't been posting here on this blog in what seems like forever, and John is still using me as an example!

YTB does make money from the marketing side, but it's not the full amount paid by the new RTAs. The materials that are sent out to the RTAs cost YTB money, so that business expense is taken out of the payment.

Also, let me add that when something new is added to the YTB websites, the RTAs don't have to pay anything extra for it.
