Calling All Suppliers

Ever wondered about the "training" that goes on at a YTB First Class Training (formerly called Certified Referring Travel Agent Training) class?  I have been and one of our readers sent an excellent report a few months ago.

Why not do some of your own investigation and see for yourself the caliper of travel training that is provided. You might be surprised. Here is a list of the trainings that are coming to a town near you:

September 8
Cabo Rojo, PR
Atlanta, GA

September 13
Costa Mesa, CA
New York, NY

September 14
Indiatlantic, FL

September 20

  1. "There is no cost . . ."

    Another YTB rip-off, huh?

    Free.

    I'll repeat that: Free.

While the suppliers are at it, how about attending our Funshine Convention this weekend in Orlando?

    Wait!

They are probably going to be there already.

    Yes, the YTB Funshine Convention.

A convention where it is ALL ABOUT TRAVEL.

    ALL ABOUT TRAVEL, WTAs.

Attended by thousands of RTAs wanting to grow their travel sales.

And paying their own way there as business owners.

And none of that dastardly team-building stuff!

In John's world, YTB just scheduled the Funshine Convention in August as a reactionary move after Moonbeam played his hand.

    Reactionary?

    Nope.

A follow up to the 2007 October Funshine Convention where over 6000 were in attendance.

Maybe a couple of Moonbeam's surrogates can fly in from CA and see the "pyramid scheme" in action.

    Sorry, Moonbeam and WTAs.

The only YTB has to do with a pyramid is selling Collette Vacations to Eygpt.

  2. Congratulations--that was pretty random. Make sure you let me know how many RTAs are there this year.

6000 out of 138,000 that are interested in building their travel business does not seem like a huge percentage to me. Let's see--that's 4%. Probably just about right.

  3. Random?

You say that everything YTB does is reactionary, King of the WTAs.

    Nope.

Moving forward in a big way.

And no one said that the ONLY RTAs interested in building their travel businesses were attending Funshine.

These RTAs are attending and paying their own way.

Better than many TTAs who would expect the agency owner to pay up.

    Free enterprise in action.

Approximately $2 million paid out this month in travel commissions.

The furthest thing from a pyramid scheme.

  4. "The furthest thing from a pyramid scheme."

You are so full of it. Only a handful make their money off of selling travel and that isn't much. Most of it is in recruiting. Read the SEC filings. It's all there in black and white. Or, do you need hooked on phonics to comprehend it?

  5. I will be surprised if there is $2M paid out for the quarter. Mix, keep on drinking the kool aid

  6. Hundreds of millions in travel sales this year.

Tens of millions in travel commissions will be paid out to RTAs this year.

Not even close to a pyramid scheme.

But, OH, how the WTAs want it to happen!

It will be "no such luck" good ol' boys and girls.

  7. "I will be surprised if there is $2M paid out for the quarter."

Count on a range $1.5 million and $2 million FOR THE MONTH.

Remember the $6 million loss YOU predicted (and hoped for) for the second quarter of 08?

You came REAL CLOSE, John . . .

Less than 5% of your prediction!

Maybe AT can sell you his "Math Made Easy" series.

  8. Hey Mixie you ignorant donkey's behind do you even read what you post? You know what I think honey? I think you are missing a screw. And, not only that I think you get your jollies toying with everyone here. Sicko. That's what you are.

  9. No, Kitty Kat . . .

The only mistake I made today was starting this comment thread.

It would have crashed and burned like a majority of John's topics recently.

Always fun to "mix" it up with the Whining Travel Agents.

While we are at it, Kitty Kat . . .

Yes, I do read what I post.

My prediction of YTB's August travel commission payout will be dead-on.

And so were my comments about JF's all-knowing predictions about YTB's 2nd quarter loss.

He missed it by a country mile.

And THAT'S what I think, "honey".

  10. Actually, nothing is crashing and burning here. Now maybe in Edwardsville.....

But my traffic is as high as it usually is but the comments are down but that is likely due to the "embargo" from YTB on blogs and commenting. You see, I think YTB may be beginning to understand that one of their worst liabilities is loudmouths like you that just spew out random comments. But keep it up Mix--I am sure you might get a Christmas Card from Jerry Brown this year!

  11. "And THAT'S what I think, "honey"." Like I really care what a donkey's behind thinks.

Face it Mix honey pie your recruiting cash cow is drying up and you will do or say anything, turn it around, deflect so that doesn't happen.

Get a job Mixie and quit scamming people.

  12. Got another business of 25 years, Kitty Kat.

    YTB is part-time for me.

But a very successful part-time at that.

Just shy of $70,000 last year.

And the other traditional business is going quite well, thank you.

  13. Regardless of how much YTB is supposedly paying out in commissions - it is still a minor piece of the income pie when you compare it to how much they are making on sign up and monthly fees. When the PRODUCT income is a minor piece of the pie, that's when the PYRAMID comes to mind (and not just in CA).
