One would think from reading all the mlm replies to my post on Tuesday about changes in the industry, that perhaps my information was incorrect. But, here we have yet another supplier who has taken a stand against the mlms.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the first, and I would suspect we'll be seeing more and more of these over the next few weeks.
(*offer not valid for YTB agents)
ReplyDeleteNot saying it's not true, but please give us a link where we can see the above statement.
It appears the promo code doesn't give you jack when looking to book outside the code. Looks to only save about $70 for the week. A little strange don't you think?
ReplyDeleteHow much more info do you need? Email them or call them and see if you can book it with your handy dandy YTB Card.
ReplyDeleteThere are phone numbers, email addresses and website addresses.
Trust me I am not that stupid as to put a bogus disclaimer at the bottom of an emailed special.
I think you are missing the point my friend. It's not the size of the discount that matters. It's the fact that yet another vendor has taken a stand against YTB.
ReplyDelete"yet another vendor has taken a stand against YTB"
ReplyDeleteNo big deal at all Ms Kate. We have seen this before and we will see it again. YTB is a company that knows how to get through anything. Can you say...Microsoft?
Anyway, YTB enjoys all the attention you give us! Thanks!
BTW. I recently booked two nights with a major Marriot resort. I told them I was a RTA with YTB and they gave me the travel agent rate. Upon checking in, the desk clerk affirmed that I received the travel agent rate and even mentioned YTB!
YTB, getting better every day! :>)
OleScorekeeper
So, why not name the resort?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I took John's advice and called, the only thing not offered to YTB is the super special extra 50 bucks per booking.
ReplyDeleteThey still offer the 15% commission. So, I booked 2 families for June.
No big deal at all Ms Kate. We have seen this before and we will see it again. YTB is a company that knows how to get through anything. Can you say...Microsoft?
ReplyDeleteSo, how's that attitude working with IATAN and Royal Caribbean? Coach got it all handled?
And yes, this is a small operator and a niche so the obvious answer is "we don't need them" but the fact is that the list is growing--slowly but it is growing...unlike your earnings and your recruiting!
Again, John see my earlier post. I booked 2 families and will get comission paid to YTB. I simply didn't qualify for the 50 dollar booking bonus. But, this property was more than happy to take my business.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, you are so full of crap and it is sad that yo do not realize how foolish you sound or look.
ReplyDeleteIf you expect me to believe ANYTHING from you, please send me a copy of the confirmation from the resort.
Really, Roatan (do you know where it is?) is a niche destination and not sold that often. So we are to believe that between 730pm last night and 8am this morning, you found not one but two families that wanted to go to Roatan and you immediately sold them into Infinity Bay? If true, why are you in YTB? If true, please let me know your secret as their res lines were closed when I posted it and I am guessing they are not open yet either!
So, I am willing to eat crow--I always am. Just send me a copy of the conformation from the resort. By the way, as to my other crow meals, I am still waiting for someone to show me proof of a decent income from my column last August, a shred of evidence about Dr. Seligman, a press release about ADI, and an award from Candi May.
Getting hungry here!
Ole
ReplyDeleteHow did you book a Marriott resort when MC doesnt accept bookings without IATA.? Did you attend Marriotts TA educational program..if not I find it hard to believe you got a famtastic rate? Just curious..not saying you didn't just want to know. Marriott is tough on their TA rates..so which resort was it?
Roatan is not that uncommon, John. IN fact many cruises now go there. As it turns out the 2 families are brothers who last fall went on a cruise that included Roatan (n coast of honduras by the way) It was truly a coincidence as they were talking about going back to roatan or belize just yesterday morning. I will admit that my earlier post was misleading as I booked it yesterday morning before John's blogpost. SO, I had to laugh when I saw the post as I, with YTB, had just booked ealier in the day at a place where John claims that YTB is shunned.
ReplyDeleteScorekeeper, you are completely full of crap. Send us the receipt where you booked 2 nights at a Marriott and got a travel agent rate. You can't get it without IATA. And you haven't been away from this blog long enough to have actually traveled somewhere.
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to continue to try to defend YTB, you should at least do it with facts that you can back up.
Wow Kate and John sharing a brain again.
ReplyDeleteBoth post within minutes of each saying "full of crap" and "send me a reciept"
If Ole had said Best Western I might have believed him.
ReplyDeleteOle - bull. You can not get an Industry Rate at an MC property without having takent heir on-line test, and you can not even complete the test without IATAN. You need "Famtastic" certs to use for the discount as well. I beleive this year for most MC properties (depending upon brand) the nightly rate is $49 or $79 (anyone, I haven't tried touse it this year) and you most certainly did not get that. If you must make something up, try Hilton or Hyatt - they are not as strict as MC - the strictist in the business.
ReplyDeleteSorry my TTA friends. OleScore was wrong. It was a Doubletree resort. The property was formally a Marriott resort. My sincere apologies for an honest mistake. OleScore didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, cause a sleepless night, trigger 10 calls to Marriott, or be the cause of any gumshoe investigation.
ReplyDeleteIn Humility I Remain,
OleScorekeeper
I see you took the advice to make sure what you lie about is acutally believable.
ReplyDeleteFrom DoubleTree (owned by Hilton BTW - see you followed the above advice on how to lie):
ReplyDeleteYou must have a valid IATA number at the time of reservation to receive the promotional rate. You will be required to show identification at check-in.
I wonder what an RTA did to Infinity?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous said...Wow Kate and John sharing a brain again.

Yeah, I noticed that too Anon. I got a big laugh out of it.
John:.."you are so full of crap...please send me a copy of the confirmation.."
Kate:.."you are completely full of crap...Send us the receipt."
I don't believe John/Kate "share a brain". They are obviously, how can I put it?..Soul Mates. It's quite apparent Kate enjoys flying high on John's coattails. Kind of a back-up character if you will. ;>)

I hate to break the news to you but there are many more than two people that feel you are full of crap.
ReplyDeleteAnd why is it so beyond comprehension that two people would post 20 minutes apart? Not "minutes as you say".
And in case you need it, I do happen to have a receipt from a convenience store this morning timestamped 8:37am. And if I can get from home, to the store, make my purchases and get them rung up in 11 minutes, I must be Superman.
Nice try though---now about your confirmation from Roatan and the Marriott...wait Double Tree...or is it now the Motel 6?
Still can't answer any questions, Ole? Here's two more:
ReplyDelete1. what's with the $1.7M reserve against cabins that is referenced in the SEC filing?
2. why is the stock dropping so precipitously today? In fact, on a downward trend all week

No idea. Call HQ if you really care about your question.
2. why is the stock dropping so precipitously today? In fact, on a downward trend all week
The stock is dropping signaling a "buy". Go look at my older posts when the stock was going down. I said then, "the stocks on sale..BUY!" SCAM was saying "sell" when it was near a buck. Anyone following that advice would surely have done poorly. Now, go buy some stock Anon..it's ON SALE!.
Stay tuned. Great news coming soon about YTB stock!
OleScorekeeper
Ole, the Olestockbroker.
ReplyDeleteSince I wouldn't ask you for travel advice I'm sure not going to take investment advice either.
Remember 80% of RTA's lose money, so this may be one way to increase your losses, or tie up your grocery dollars.
Oh look at me sitting here holding my breath waiting for yet another "big announcement" from YTB.
ReplyDeleteWhen a company feels the need to issue a press release everytime Coach mixes two kool-aid flavors together to make something new, that should tell you that something is wrong. Companies that are really doing well don't feel the need to issue a press release every week to try to convince everyone that everything is ok. If the stock is up, you claim you are doing great. If the stock is down, well then you're doing extra great! Even when IATA refused to reinstate you, they claimed that was good news too.
If someone is blowing so much sunshine up your ass that you've created your own solar system, that's a good reason to suspect that you're being conned.
"If someone is blowing so much sunshine up your ass that you've created your own solar system, that's a good reason to suspect that you're being conned."
ReplyDeleteToo bad the average RTA is too stupid to see that. Hey, Coach's next big thing an anti-sunshine ray. Or better yet maybe Coach will hop on the global warming green movement. Now, there is an opportunity for an MLM.
If brains were dynamite, you wouldn't have enough to blow your nose.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see anything in the SEC filing about merging with or buying American Destinations?
ReplyDeleteYou know what's interesting? The number of people who self-report as "suppliers" here has grown - not fast, but has grown. Could it be that some of them are reading these posts and deciding not to work with YTB? Perhaps that's how Infinity Bay caught on? Perhaps (and much more likely) Infinity Bay has had one or more negative experiences working with YTB RTAs? Either way, word is getting out to the independant hoteliers as well as the "big boys"...interesting.
ReplyDeleteDear Old Kate said, referring to the wise OleScorekeeper, "And you haven't been away from this blog long enough to have actually traveled somewhere."
ReplyDeleteTell me Ms Kate, have you ever heard of a boardband connection for a laptop? How about a LAN drop in a hotel room? Are you sure you're a professional travel agent? You have me wondering. ;>)
OleScorekeeper
Want to see something really funny? Click on Ms Kate!
You're such a ridiculous liar Ole! How about responding to the list of questions/concerns posted earlier this week? You can't, can you? I mean you could but the poster asked you not to obfuscate....
ReplyDeleteWhat's a boardband? Is that something that happens to you on forums?
ReplyDeleteRight! He was in his room at a Marriott that he got at an Industry Rate by showing his business card! Quickly tried to cover that lie, didn't he?!
ReplyDeleteWe don't need no stinking Infinity Bay, IATA, RCCL, Perillo, or anyone! We makes it on our own and I make enough cuz Coach takes care of us. He is a Christian and a man of God. Need I say more?
ReplyDeleteSorry, my mistake..the word is broadband. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBTW Anon, I would engage you in a battle of wits but I refuse to duel with an unarmed person who enjoys posting a question only to answer it 2 minutes later? ;>)
OleScorekeeper-
Willing to admit that I may not always be right, but I am never wrong.
So Ole...you were saying buy when I was saying sell and you said I was wrong? So while the morons were buying YTB stock and running up the stock, people like you are saying BUY BUY BUY. Thought the stock was going to make millionaires and continue to skyrocket? Instead, history repeats itself. People buy into it, run it up then dump it left and right. This is now the SECOND time this has happened. Eventually people will wake up and realize that they are losing money with this "pump and dump". And the stock continues to slide ONCE again. It's not rocket science. Than again you don't even know which hotel you booked with, so I wouldn't expect more.
