Dickinson Bails On YTB

Seems Bob had second thoughts. Today, Bob has said that he had second thoughts on accepting the appointment. YTB had no comment. More details to follow!

Wow, wonder what happened.

  1. Maybe he and Ted Lindower had lunch...friends of Coach one day and not so much the next.

  2. Someone gave him the antidote to Kool Aid.

  3. Phooey! I had hopes that this was going to be the start to the 'new' YTB.

  4. I kind of suspect that many of his peers and former peers had some conversations with him last night.

Yea, and pigs will fly too...

  6. Never a dull moment in this biz is there? Do you suppose this will instigate yet another press release?

  7. I still haven't seen the press release about the so-called merger. Where is that one??

  8. Wow you can almost hear a pin drop in here. I was hoping for a more legitimate YTB as well Eddie. My guess that this will somehow be our fault or this blogs fault for changing his mind. LOL

And your source please? Your shirt tail followers believe anything you say. They don't care about where you got it from, now do they?

  10. JF and TTAs -

More than likely in the upcoming press release, you will find that the Carnival Board of Directors felt that it would be a conflict of interest being that Dickinson is on their B of D and YTB is a client.

Read into it all you want, but my source says that is where the truth lies.

Wish it were different, but Dickinson's loyalty naturally has to be with his former company.

Look for YTB to tap another big player in the travel industry, but this time someone not tied to a YTB vendor.

And look for YTB to soon be traded on the American Stock Exchange.

  11. To the Anon' person above. Read a trade magazine if your going to pretend to be an agent.

    Dickinson Declines YTB Board Post
Thu May 01 2008, by TravelTrade Staff

Bob Dickinson today said that upon further consideration, he has decided to decline his appointment to the YTB International board of directors, which YTB announced yesterday. YTB had not returned a request for comment at posting time.

    Mix:

While I agree that most likely Carnival told him..No no. That should have been something he asked prior to accepting no? I mean in their BOD rules at Carnival he would have needed PRIOR approval to be on YTB board. Maybe he forgot to ask?

  12. Let's see where the stock goes after this one ole...My guess is down.

  13. Actually there is no conflict of interest serving on both Boards. You can read it on the Carnival plc site. That is not to say it does not LOOK bad, but it is acceptable.

Travel Trade---it is a magazine for the travel trade. You know that thing that you claim you sell so much of. But it is not a free publication like TW, you actually need to pay for it!

It is doubtful that there will be an upcoming press release. YTB NEVER releases any news that is perceived as bad.

As for the next player to step up to the YTB Board---maybe Dick Fain, Adam Goldstein, Lisa Bauer, Dondra Ritzenthaler, Vicki Freed, or Steve Perillo--I understand there will not be a conflict of interest there.

Am I happy about the news today?

No. It would have been great to have him on the Board.

If the stock does go down, it will be a good time to buy.

    Short-term: PR problem.

    Long-term: NO problem.

American Stock Exchange is right around the corner.

I will wager with you that YTB does have a press release.

And there will be a very respectable new Board member to fill Dickinson's seat in the not-to-distant future.

  16. I don't make wagers with anonymous posters.

I say there is no release on it. They will file an amendment to their SEC filing for sure, but doubtful there is a release.

But when they bring someone else on, it likely will be worded similar to "YTB appoints Dick Fain to serve on the Board and fills the vacancy left by Bob Dickinson."

  17. I think Bob Dickinson and YTB is like this analogy.

A guy is in a bar near quitting time and the girls all look prettier. He takes her home and when he wakes up the next morning, he looks and says, "Oh my God! What have I done?"

    :)

  18. Steve--where do I send a bill for a new monitor and keyboard? I just spat coke all over mine!

  19. Maybe he realized he has some integrity.

  20. Looks as if Oldscrotchkeeper hasn't chimed in on this one. I wonder why?

Was her name...Martha, aka Vomit Lady? ;>)

"Most people try to contain their vomit by vomiting into a sink, toilet, or trash can, as both the act and the vomit itself are widely considered embarrassing; vomit is also difficult to clean."

So, Martha...do you still need me to send you some Baby Wipes so you can clean up around yourself after your daily reading of Doug's bog? LOL!

  22. I went back and read the quotes from Dickinson when it was announced that he was on the board.
Then within 24 hours he does a 180. Is this guy schizo?

Vicki Freed hit him over the head with her Manolo...

  24. John, You should have invested in a spill-proof keyboard by now. And by the way, Diet Coke doesn't do as much damage. The sugar in the regular coke eats stuff.

  25. Bob,didn't want to be a part of the latest news. The feds are working on a new case against YZF Ranch in Eldorado Tx. Seems an informant has supplied ties to YTB investment in the Ranch. With all the followers of YTB and YZF they could have one big orgy.Look for Coach to hop the private jet to an unknown island

  26. I think it's likely that Bob did hear from some of his peers and started doing a little research......

As a matter of fact, just the Brawny towel and Windex will do. I haven't had the problem you mentioned above....yet. And I congratulate you on getting your new name "AssOle" pretty accurate with just one letter missing. And how much have you sold today?

  29. AssOle hasn't sold 1 thing today.
