What is strange is that apparently this posster is NOT in YTB--why does he say to call someone else and tell them "Rob referred you."? Maybe someone in TB is having a tough time recruiting (ya think?) and is paying someone referral fees? Is that allowed?

11/15/2008It's no better in Tampa appaerenty. But I am not so sure how valuable a two year old magazine is? But apparently the advertiser knows, they are intending to toss them in the trash. What is a "serious inquiry" about something you are planning on tossing away? I believe that Coach woudl not be happy!

Denver again. Boy Coach needs to send out more of those Recession Proof CDs. There are entirely too many RTAs and Reps that are unaware of this new unique to YTB program. This guy is even trying to sell his "slightly used" 2-year old YTB Magazines. And we are not even going to address in how they were used--you can use your imagination.
OK so out of all Craigslist, you find three or four people that have failed in YTB and are trying to sell their business assets. Whoop dee dooo! For each of these people, there are probably 10 or 20 that are making excellent money with the opportunity. It works if you just listen to the program and do what they tell you. It is proven--look at Julliet St. John, Ron Head, Bill Hoffmann and Rick Ricketts---alll multi multi multi millionairres all because of YTB!!!!

We can only hope with the new administration they crack down on this crap.
The recruiting ads are so poorly written that they will just attract more of the losers that they already have. The first one says "we give you all the tools you need to get started. A 1 day training class, $500 at first, a $50 monthly fee and your good to go" which makes it sound like YTB is going to pay them to sign up.
ReplyDeleteAre these magazines glossy coated pages? If not, and they are more like newspaper, maybe I can get a few somewhere for free. I can always use more newspaper since I foster dogs and they usually aren't house trained when I get them. Glossy pages don't absorb much though, so that wouldn't work.
ReplyDeleteYou know, it's really very sad to see this. As much as I detest what YTB and the other travel MLMs are doing to devalue the profession of Travel Agent, I have to say that I do feel somewhat sorry for these people. They were sold a "bill of goods" and have apparently just figured it out.

You are just envious and jealous- you were in Y T B once yourself. I have obtained a copy of the email that Y T B sent to you regarding the termination of your site. (not the one you altered per customer request..we are not customers John...lol) You are just mad - Traditional Trave Agents are not where it is at. Though I will say that there are still people out there who like to use a Traditional Travel Agent - the numbers are just not there unfortunately. I do have several people who allow me to service their travel needs personally ...but most like the internet better... Fortunately for me, through YTB and the training, I have been priviledged to obtain, a Master Cruise Counselor status with CLIA and am a destination specialist of several popular destinations - and that is growing all the time because of my affiliation with Y T B. You make it out like Y T B RTA's don't make anything and we are all "players" of a game...I am serious about what I do - I also have a HUGE team who is doing it with me! The numbers you publish and quote are not always accurate. You tweek them...but that is what most media folks do - that is your job...to tweek things.

One more thing...I personally know people who are selling their Y T B material and it IS NOT because they are failing - it is because YTB has come out with a fabulous tool that makes all the others obsolete! I never said that you hate Christians. I simply told John that he hates Christian reference in these posts...He has said it himself in many - please read the post again for clarification. He has asked many many times for people to keep out the religous blurbs. I don't know you so how can I know what you hate? YTB does not ever use Christianity to recruit. What an INDEPENDENT MARKETING REPRESENTATIVE chooses to use as his/her marketing tools is their choice. Nowhere in any YTB documents does it state any reference to Christ/God or Heaven in Joining YTB.

As far as IATAN - they claimed that YTB was selling the use of the IATAN number and were suspended for it. They changed their qualifications and requirements and are compliant. It is just a matter of time.
Royal Caribbean demoted the person who called the shots in terminating their relationship with YTB. I think they may find in the future that the relationship will be restored. Many people noticed - not just YTB TA's but other as well that soon after the relationship ties were severed that Royal started advertising heavily on TV and on the internet...I believe it was because of the 13 million in sales that they lost when they broke it off with YTB. Mind you, Royal did not call YTB ahead of time to talk about the relationship being broken- they simply failed to appear at a Travel Trade Show (Funshine) after having the leaders of YTB to their corporate offices to boast of their continued committment to YTB and their fondness of its business with Royal. (Was not the most professional way to sever ties). Mind you Funshine had well over 5000 Travel Agents, RTA's and more this year - setting a record in Trade Show attendance.
As for the RTA's - the ones who don't make money are the ones who don't work. A traditional Travel Agent would not make any money if they did not promote their business, right John? A travel agent, whether home based or in a traditional brick and mortar HAS TO PROMOTE THEMSELVES. Using Collateral, brochures and assorted media regularly to promote their business. These RTA's did not and they are mad and they want someone to pay them damages for their laziness. It is the same old story.
The lawsuit is without merit and it will not affect YTB. It is directly relatedt to the disgruntled RTA's who want something for nothing. It is also a direct result of a petition circulated by disgruntled Travel agents. I am sure we all know about that.
As of January, it will be dismissed and YTB will continue to grow. I am a proud YTB Website owner and a fair and ethical person. I will not mudsling and name call with you.
I don't know of one YTB affiliated person who went into God's temple and used God to recruit or used the church/churchbody/bretheren to recruit. I just do not see your correlation at all in that respect.

YTB was terminated by IATAN for violating their policies. YTB tried to get reinstated and they were turned down.
Lisa Bauer of RCCL was moved to the hotel division. With the new Oasis coming out they needed someone with her expertise and knowledge. It was NOT a demotion.
As to using Christianity to recruit, Coach was recruiting in HIS OWN CHURCH for crying out loud. That is a fact and someone who belonged to that Church verified it as did the press.
As to the class action lawsuits I understand over 1,000 people have signed up. Are they all lazy too? They were scammed.
We don't make this stuff up. It's public record. The problem is you don't want your cash cow recruiting to dry up so you will do or say anything so that does not happen. You are a pathetic and sick person. I hope you sleep well knowing you scam people and are involved in a scam company.

To say that TTAs "fear" YTB is nothing more than wishful thinking on your part, and a rather flacid attempt to defend your infestation in an industry where it's been made clear you are not welcome.
Let's clear a couple of your misconceptions up shall we?
1. Lisa Bauer was not demoted from RCI because they banned YTB. RCI banned YTB because of their sleazy business tactics, and Lisa was promoted.
2. There will always be clients who appreciate good service and the value that a real travel agent can bring. Our business has grown year after year. Sorry-we're not going anywhere.
3. The lawsuit has a lot of validity, but if you want to continue to b.s. your recruits into believing it's not true, then you can continue to do that until the shit hits the fan.
4. John did join YTB to get access to info. So did I. John got caught and got the boot. I am still considered a YTB "member". You've got some of the lamest training materials in your back office that I have ever seen.
4. Over 80% of the people that join YTB make no money. Congratulations on creating the biggest army of losers the industry has ever seen.
You guys are a mess. I have been watching this "stuff" for awhile. I got in YTB and am doing ok...I got all my money back and am not paying the 49.95 every month. No overhead...and a few extra hundred here and there. I have read all the travel articles and such and I must say - you are acting very biased. You seem to have it in for YTB. YTb is not trying to take any of your business away - they are just working a market shift. It made sense to me. Ina 7 trillion dollar a year industry- I would say there is plenty to go around. Point of clarification. John joined YTB as a REP (no money) and was not given the boot. When YTB realized that their Reps and RTAs were hurting their chances with Jerry Brown, they put out the word to take down all the blogs. I too got a call saying that my blog would need to come down. When I looked at the finances and realized that my google ads far exceeded any income I could make in YTB, the decision was clear.

To the latest cowardly anon--YTB has most certainly said they intend to take the business away. Ask any Rep and they will tell you. Even their latest recruiting DVD says it. But that is not really the issue. It is the untrained professionals pretending to be travel agents.
I can buy a ring on E-Bay but I am not a jeweler. I can surf WebMD but I am not a doctor. I can buy my insurance from Geico online but I am not an insurance broker. Get it?

The reason you have lame training in your backoffice is there are no travel training materials in your YTB backoffice. That's a REP website you have.
The only training you have access to is the archived conference calls. That's about .001% of the travel training we have in the password protected travel portal.
The travel training is in the travel portal.
Hmmmmm....would this be the same portal with the supposed new and improved training (that came out recently) for how to book and airline flight etc......and where YTB stated it had a valid IATAN Number and published that number and instructed the members to give that number when booking a cruise, etc.????
ReplyDeleteThat is not true...Anon...YTB did not tell anyone to use the IATAN Name or Number since they were suspended. They were instructed to use the ARC or CLIA number and oh yea!! By the way The ARC number is the same as the IATAN number and it is unlawful for IATAN to tell us not to use the number because it is not even their number...it belongs to ARC...so we use the number as an ARC number because it is an ARC number...IATA is not the powerful "end all be all" in travel trade...Look at YTB's numbers going up almost double every year...225 million in 2006...414 million in 2007 and now at over 800 million in 2008 already...They said they were shooting for 1 billion - they just might m ake it...Sorry TTA's...We don't mean to "take" your business - but that is the marketshift and what is wrong with having the saavy to see it, catch it and profit from it.?? Sounds like good business to me. A friend told me about it and we could not believe he and several others did it to her...They called her a nut job and posted all her sites for people to make erroneous comments about her and her sites. One even went as far as to create a site named after her to attack her. John called her a bunch of names and posted her name on this scam.com over 50 times in a row to try to move the web traffic to this scam.com to defame her. To slander her...We all could not believe what he did...and were shocked at his unprofessional behaviour. She received phone calls threatening her and many emails threatening her and her children/family. All because John posted her personal information along with another creep. Many of us wrote to msnbc and filed a copy with them showing what he does on the internet to people. He may be a Travel advisor or columnist- but he is not a quality person. ( as far I could see from his communication on the internet) I have read his rude and insulting comments. John, you may not know what you incite on the internet - but you did. You really should stop and think...you might think to stop.

The emails she got were nasty. downright nasty and some threatened her children. One of them told her to watch her kids when she travels - they might get snatched and she would never see them again. This "person" told her to keep your hand on them and your eyes. We are waiting. HOW AWFUL! She reported this to the police and gave them copies but there has been no headway. I was at a meeting where they pulled up your blog and showed it to a room of over 35 people looking to join YTB..They showed them the things you say against us and the they can see the spirit behind it...the disturbing nature of the comments etc...They had 8 people join that night. I will agree with anon #1 who said "No weapon formed against me shall prosper"...I know that is biblical - i don't know from exactly what book in the Bible but I know it is - and I know God is not a liar. I did a google search and she came up at least 1 1/2 pages on Google blatantly advertising her name, her kids, her city and all kinds of personal information anyone with common sense would NOT post. Let's face it YTB is not a well thought of company. There are currently 1,000 former RTA's with one of the law firms class action lawsuits. Plenty of disgruntled former YTB people.

I perused Tracy's YTB recruiting site. There are so many lies and half truths on there. 60% commission from booking her Disney vacation with YTB is one of them. Disney pays 10% commission and she gets 60% of that and YTB gets 40%. You do the Math. There are other inconsistencies in the site as well. No wonder she is being threatened. Lying and half truths to get people to sign up under you is morally and ethically not right.

We love the YTB business. It is everything that we were told it would be.
My husband and I had a check our very first week and made back our initial investment in under 30 days. We have made a lot of money in a very short time. We have been able to take more vacations and do more while on vacation.
An example: We went to Disney World in Florida in the fall of 2007. We had planned to go there before joining YTB. We were planning our trip that would cost us about $5000. There are 5 of us in all. The trip that we planned within that budget was a trip that we would drive, not fly to Orlando, staying at small budget rate hotels and cramming 5 people into 2 beds; staying at Disney for 2 days at a value resort, going to Sea World for 1 day and then heading home. It would be a 6 day trip total and not a very relaxing one, but it was the only way we could afford it with 5 people and $5000 going retail.
When we saw YTB, we saw a way to do our Disney trip and make money. IF we only booked our Disney trip on our own website we would make 60% of the commission on our trip - tickets, hotels, rental car, flights, attractions and more...that was better than any offer I got on any website or even Ebay!! But the fact of the matter was, because we were associated with our Host Travel Agency of YTB, we could actually get discounts, perks and FREE upgrades if available directly from the vendor. Every vendor is different and some require you to have sales with them in order to get more perks or discounts but, sometimes not. So we called around. I got my YTB Disney vacation- with FLIGHTS for all 5 of us, a beautiful resort in a suite right off the pool and jacuzzi with individual beds for each of my children and a private sleeping arrangements for me and my husband. The resort offered us a discounted room. They also offered us complimentary breakfast buffet every day and FREE passes for my children to eat FREE at over 50 restaurants throughout Orlando, Kissimmee, Lake Buena Vista and St. Cloud. Our Disney & Sea World tickets were reduced and we added a Safari and another nature excursion to our itinerary - one of which was completely FREE because we were in the business. We Flew into Fort Lauderdale instead and drove up the coast...We added 3 days to our trip and rented a car. When we arrived at the rental agency, they asked to see our identification and upgraded us to a 2008 Eddie Bauer Edition Ford Expedition - fully loaded!! No extra cost. A FREE upgrade. We extended our trip to 9 days -stayed 3 days at Disney instead of 2 - we flew- we traveled better and got a better trip out of it...we did not spend $5000 - We spent under $1600. The trip would have retailed alot more than $8000 to top it all!!
We spent the rest of the money on the kids. We had a blast. I have always wanted to tell my children - go ahead - get whatever you want! And we did. We had a fabulous vacation. That was our first experience traveling the YTB way...we will never turn back. We have had other great experiences beside that one since then that have saved us thousands of dollars.
That trip alone was worth the investment in YTB. If I had never made a dime - that trip was worth it! But the wonderful truth is, we have made money in YTB - more than I imagined and our business continues to grow everyday with folks who love to travel and save money. People who tell other people about their YTB travel booking website earn money every time their friends and family book travel on their website- every time someone buys concert tickets or sporting events tickets and more! We do it and we love it! (And as for my mailman... he books his vacations on my website now!)
There are alot of sites out there that publish negative information about YTB and tell you that YTB is a scam or a pyramid scheme. I read them all before joining YTB. I read alot of articles written by travel agents who turned to YTB because the face of travel is changing. One travel agent quoted said "2 years ago there were 86,000 travel agencies in America- this year there are less than 16,000." That says alot! Travel has moved to the internet. This is ground floor. The travel agents that work in "Brick and Mortar" facilities get upset because their jobs are folding because their market is changing. Many of them have joined YTB. I personally have 3 travel agents in my team alone.
It is a hard pill to swallow for some - I guess that is why they slam YTB. They refuse to go down without a fight. The fact is YTB is growing every year and their growth is consistent. That says alot. They are the 26th largest Travel Agency in America as rated by Travel Weekly.
I addressed the "pyramid" theory too. A pyramid scheme is a marketing ploy to get money without any real service or product being offered. YTB does collect a fee to offer you the business model - like McDonald's charges a fee to buy their business model. YTB has services - lots of them, and great products...travel, vacations, tickets of all sorts, honeymoon registry, all inclusive resorts, European vacations and guided tours. They have rental vehicles of all kinds too: Hummers, Buses, limos and more! YTB is a publicly traded company and growing rapidly. They are a proud member of the Better Business Bureau and a member in good standing with the DSA.
The complainers? The naysayers? They are the people who are in competition for the business. They are the people in the industry who hate to see the change coming. They are people who quite possibly are jealous that they did not see it first. Whatever the reason for their complaints and negative remarks; I came to a realization after I read through it all; both the good and the bad; there was more good than bad. I thought, "What if only 10% of what they say is true?"
I have found through experience that it is ALL true. YTBTN (YTB: Travel Network) is a ethical honest legitimate seller of Travel. YTB ( Your Travel Biz) is the network marketing side of the company that pays you when you refer someone to the YTB business much like DISH Network, AT&T, Direct TV and others pay customers to refer people to their business and services. It is no different. It has been the best choice I made in 2007. Successful in 2008! Wow 2009!!

As to cruise commissions with the NCF's you make even less. Anyone who knows the travel industry knows this. Which the majority in YTB do not.

ReplyDeleteTracy Heiser (whoever that is??) did not say that she gor 60% of the gross sale..it said 60% of the commission...which would be exactly as you said 60% of the 10%...I think you may need to take remedial reading again and focus on your comprehension.
She did not lie...She said it exactly right.

ReplyDeleteI don't know her but I do know what her site says and it is exactly what is the truth. YTB pays 60-70% of the commission paid to them and that is exactly what she said she would be paid. She never claimed to get that commission from Disney - she said she booked directly with a vendor and got her discounts that way. I am a TA and have done a similar vacation that she described..I paid around the same amount almost 2 years ago. I have no reason to not believe her - Why do you attack her? Do you know her? Have you talked to her? I don't see her posting here...I just don't know why you are so mad? She is not doing anything wrong. She did not get anything wrong.
I am amazed that everyone is so up in arms over this lady and her website. You must be an expert on YTB.
I am not in YTB but I have certainly looked at it. It is simple. I have considered it. I am watching and waiting. I have talked to several people that were very happy in it and several that were not. In each instance it was clear as to whom was excited about their business and actually promoting travel and who was not.
So - is that why you are so mad at this woman? Perhaps she is one of these people who is making alot of money in YTB and makes it look great?
I really would like a civil answer without all the vile verbage.

I am sure you would love for me to post it John, but let me say this...It contains my name and information and if I posted it you would all have a field day with my private life like you have done to this woman you are slandering. Why would I do that? My check the month before was almost $1300...I sell travel along with selling online travel centers. I work BOTH sides of the business.
ReplyDeleteI make alot of money in selling travel. I even sold a car last month - a tidy $300 in my pocket for telling someone to use my website as their portal to save on a car. It saved them over $3000 off their best deal! We had a funeral within our circle of friends last month and everyone ordered their flowers and gift baskets from my site...Nice extra cash that I did not have to physically work for. All I did is hand out my business card and let people know what is available on my site. I let them know that I have an online store that provides nearly everything imaginable in travel and entertainment but also in flowers, gifts, cars, and vacation clothing and more more more!!
It is how you want proof...but when someone gives you proof and PROVES you WRONG - you come out swinging. You call names and try to destroy. Tsk...Tsk...Shame on anyone is YTB or Traverus or ??? if they do it too...These blogs don't prove anything - just how utterly ridiculous the competition sounds!
Oh!! One more thing...
John did not "just quit" after they asked people to take down their blogs...That is sooo not the truth. They never asked me to take down my blog. I have an extensive blog. I have been in YTB for more than 2 years. They NEVER asked me to remove my blog. John has been gone from YTB for quite some time and it had nothing to do with Jerry Brown. It had everything to do with the fact that he was two timing YTB. No one likes a Two timer..not a married woman, nor a girlfriend, not a business person nor a major company...Another word for a Two Timer is a Deceiver. Another word for a Deceiver is a Liar.
And he Boo Hoos about this woman who supposedly lied about him?. Now, That is the pot calling the kettle black.
Funny..I looked into this class action lawsuit that was filed by THOUSANDS of people as you say - but THAT is not true either is it?

I have been contemplating joining YTB for over a month now - I saw the business for the first time well over 3 months ago and did not take it seriously at first...Then I went to a second meeting to see it again and felt a little differently...so I started to look around and found this blog among others...there are 4 of you on this blog that are on the other sites too and you say the same thing - it is all the same..But I search around all the time and never heard of YTB being sued by THOUSANDS...

YTB International class actions set for status

An attorney for YTB International is asking a federal judge to set a status conference in class actions that alleges YTB is an illegal pyramid scheme.
YTB's attorney, Judy Cates of Swansea, argues that a status conference is necessary to coordinate defendants' responses to the two complaints filed against YTB.
According to Cates, the separate actions have been substantially similar.
Faye Morrison and Kwame Thompson filed one of the suits Aug. 8. They seek to represent a putative class who allege YTB operates an illegal pyramid sales scheme and employs an illegal chain referral sales technique in violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.
Morrison, of St. Louis and Thompson, of Atlanta, acted as both independent marketing representatives (IMRs) and referring travel agents (RTAs) for YTB.
Their suit seeks at least $100 million in damages on behalf of the putative class.
Morrison and Thompson have retained Rex Carr, Christian Montroy and Michael Marker of East St. Louis to represent them. In addition, Jay Kanzler, Jr., and Brian Massimino of St. Louis will assist in representing the class.
According to their Web site, YTB provides Internet-based travel booking services for travel agencies and home-based independent representatives in the United States, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, the Bahamas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Canada.
The company operates through three subsidiaries, YourTravelBiz.com, Inc., YTB Travel Network, Inc., and REZconnect Technologies, Inc., all of which are also named as defendants in the case.
The second class action against YTB and its subsidiaries was filed by Jeffrey and Polly Hartman. Their suit is almost identical to the first class action, however they are represented by different lawyers. They filed their case seven days after the first one.
John Carey, Tiffany Marko and Francis "Casey" Flynn of Carey & Danis in St. Louis represent the Hartmans.
Cates argues holding a status conference in both cases would "ensure the orderly consideration of the likely motions to dismiss."
"Plaintiffs will suffer no prejudice if the Court grants this Motion," Cates wrote.
U.S. District Judge G. Patrick Murphy agreed, and on Nov. 21, set a status conference for 2 p.m. on Dec. 8.

Well, if you knew the definition of "Class Action" it might help. Here it is:
